Roger from the Frances Fleet reported improved fishing today on the cod/mixed bag trip aboard the Gail Frances. Better fishing and weather that was about as picture perfect as one could imagine for early December with near oil slick calm waters providing optimum drifting conditions. While we only had a few more cod than yesterday( all nice green market size fish) we had much much improved numbers of sea bass once again including several brutes in the 3 to 4 lb range. There were at least a couple limit catches and most of the anglers aboard had three to six nice sea bass apiece to take home. We also had a few more scup than yesterday and a bunch of ling including a few that were on their way to baseball bat size category. One Pollock and a bunch of good size ocean perch, a couple conger of Christmas Eels and even one big squid rounded out the day’s catch. Longtime regular customer Lou from Niantic had a nice mixed bag today with two fine cod, a limit of good size sea bass, big ocean perch and a good size conger eel. Lou is an exceptional rod handler and it is always a pleasure to fish side by side him. Next cod/mixed bag trip sets sail Wednesday at 6 am. A few pics today provided courtesy of Roger.
There will be NO black fish trip tomorrow, Tuesday December 3rd. The next tatoug trip will be set to sail Wednesday December 4th at 6 am.
