First mate Chris L reported a solid day aboard the Gail Frances but unfortunately the fish were not well distributed. A definite case of the haves and have nots. Weather was just amazing today but unfortunately that resulted in slower than normal drift conditions. Some of the buck tail sharpies still jigged their way to a near limit catch and a couple of angler limits were achieved. Some sea bass and a few scup but no blue fish today. Some quality fluke in the four pound range with the biggest of the flat ones threatening the six pound mark. Next trip sets sail tomorrow morning aboard the Gail Frances with Capt. Rich at the helm.
We will be out night fishing tonight. Plenty of room so come on down if interested and come into the shop to purchase tickets before 7pm.
The morning half day saw a few nice fluke and a bunch of sea bass including some really nice ones. The evening half day however saw excellent fishing with a great catch of both sea bass and the most fluke we have seen in several outings! It was a good drift and bait rigs were king. There was also a boat limit of sea bass up to four pounds as well. Biggest fluke was around four pounds but most of the fish were of excellent 3 lb range quality stuff. Great fishing for a surprisingly light crowd of anglers!! Just one half day tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 8am.
Plenty of room on tomorrow’s Whale Watch. Sightings have been awesome and recently patrons have seen Sperm and Fin back Whales as well as porpoises. Tomorrow’s Whale Watch leaves at 1pm. Call the office in the morning after 8 am to make a reservation.
Roger.
