First mate Cote reported last night’s fishing trip aboard the Lady Frances showed some slight sign of improvement. There were a few more bass observed than on recent outings. Nothing big but the best pulled the scale down to just under the 15 lb mark. Unfortunately there were no blue fish. We try again tonight aboard the Lady Frances setting sail at 7 pm with Capt. Ray at the helm. The trip tonight is a go and there is still plenty of room so call the office to make a reservation if interested.
Word from Capt. Mike was that this morning’s half day was slow. We have two half days on tap for tomorrow with the first to set sail at 8am and the next at 1pm. Both scheduled to be aboard the Lady Frances and for anglers who choose to do back to back outings they can receive a $15 discount off the second outing.
Picture above is of regular customer Mel Daniel from Jersey City NJ with the second biggest fluke aboard the Gail Frances yesterday. Speaking of the Gail Frances, the full day boat had a solid day again today. A better drift today helped matters some however there was still a rather wild spread in the catches from angler to angler. There were limit catches recorded as well as those who went home with little to show for their fisher efforts. Notable fish include the big fish of the day at 9.8 lbs for Chun Y Kim from Aberdeen NJ. Chun also had another fluke of at least 7 lbs along with some other beautiful summer flounders, big scup and a sea bass just under 4lbs. Way to go Chun! Longtime regular customer Irene Brown had the second biggest fluke on the boat with a handsome looking 9 lb slab. Photos of Irene’s and Chun’s big fish appear courtesy of Roger and Capt. Ted. About a dozen jumbo fluke today over 4 lbs but lots of quality large keepers in the 3 lb range and first mate Cote reported whole squid was the way to go! A boat limit of big sea bass to over 5 lbs along with some super size scup to well over 2 lbs and several spirited blue fish to 8 lbs rounded out the day’s catch. Capt. Rich sets sail again tomorrow at 7am aboard the Gail Frances. Weather looks great!
Capt. Matt put his full day charter into some excellent fluke fishing today!! The Salt Water Anglers of Bergen County NJ had a fantastic day out on the water aboard the Admiral Frances! Big fish honors went to Chuck Santoro who took the charter pool with a fine 6 lb slab. The fishing was solid all day long keeping Capt. Matt, Cory and Greg busy all day long. An excellent amount of keepers, including a couple limit catches and quite a few others who were not far behind boxing several good fish apiece, along with plenty of shorties to keep things active plus a handful of nice size sea bass. The fishing as good as it was, was getting better and better right up until it was time to come home! Mark Capallo and Bill Fish, who organized the fishing trip, stated they had a really great time aboard the Admiral Frances today, going even further to say it was their best fishing experience thus far in Rhode Island. The gang from Insurance Incorporated (3 anglers) combined for 23 nice size fluke and out fished everyone else but all hands on deck had a truly memorable experience. Dan, Eugene, Dave, Pete, Lee, Mark and Bill and everyone else aboard extended the most sincere thanks and appreciation to not only Capt. Matt and mates Cory and Greg, but also to office manager Tammy and staff writer Roger who all had important roles in making this very successful day come to fruition.
Another successful day of Whale Watching. Whale Watching continues on a Tuesday Thursday Friday and Saturday sailing schedule through September 1st. Trip leaves at 1pm returning at 530pm by reservation.
