The Lady Frances back from the 3 Day Long Range Tuna Trip that left Tuesday night and the word is………It Was A Great Trip!! There was an excellent haul of Yellowfin with most in the 40 to 60 lb range with a few upwards to 70lbs. There were also some smaller size Yellows that anglers caught and released. The tuna were busting all over the place and were literally being hand fed! Bait fishing was generally the way to go although a few were caught on jigs. A nice bunch of fair size Mahi as well. One short Big Eye. Some huge swords were seen swimming through the bait with a monster estimated at well over 300 lbs swimming all around and under the boat but fishers could not interest the magnificent fish in any baits. There was no trolling bite to speak of on this outing. It sounds like they are coming home with full coolers! We hope to have a few pictures for you by the end of the day. Next trip is slated to leave tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. As of right now, that trip only has one opening on it. But looking ahead, most all other trips still have availability.
A brisk breeze propelled the Gail Frances at speeds of up to 2.5 knots today across the fluke grounds around Block Island however the fishing was reported to be solid. Some nice fluke and quite a few sea bass pleasing patrons who stayed at the rail Capt. Rich sets sail aboard the Gail Frances tomorrow morning at 7am.
Two half days on tap tomorrow with the first to set sail on the Admiral Frances at 8am and the second also on the Admiral at 1pm. Back to back half days can net an angler a $15 discount off the second outing. Half day fishing trips are also similarly scheduled Sunday and Monday and that will wrap up our half day fishing season for 2015.
