Roger reported incredible porgy action today aboard the cod fish trip! Porgies as fast as a fisher could get a bait to the bottom, numerous double headers and so on with many of the scup well over 1 lb with quite a few in the 2 lb range a few pushing the 2.5 lb mark. There were some cod fish today but the scup really made it tough for the slower moving cod to approach the fresh shucked clam baits. Still a fair number of keepers with the best of the lot threatening the ten pound mark and a fair number of short cod. A handful of fishers had two cod apiece and one or two fishers had three cod apiece to take home. There were numerous limit catches on the scup and those who quit at 20-30 per. When Capt. Rich turned it loose on the drift late in the day when the wind went slack there was even a cod or two taken on the iron clam! Some good size ocean perch and a few nice blue fish mixed in as well. Looks like now we will just have one boat tomorrow with the Gail Frances setting sail for cod at 7am. Weather looks great for tomorrow and Monday as well. Some pictures today courtesy of Roger.
The shortened long range tuna trip which has become an extended tuna outing sets sail tonight at 10pm, still a few spots open if anyone wants to buy a ticket and jump on! Just one more tuna trip thereafter setting sail Wednesday Night at 10pm with plenty of room as this is written.
