Roger reported another gorgeous day on the water today and a slight uptick in the number of cod fish taken by fishers. Jigs far outproduced bait today aboard the Gail Frances. Hi hook was Fran from lower NY state who boxed five nice keepers today (4 on jigs). 8z hammar and/or diamond style seemed to do the trick today. A fair number of fishers had two keepers apiece. Big fish today was taken on bait however and was a fine green fish in the low to mid teens. Plenty of scup once again but they were not quite as aggressive as yesterday still those who fished smaller baits and hooks managed upwards to 30 keepers apiece. Sizes to over 2 lbs but the average size, while still nice, was a bit smaller than yesterday on the porgies. Quite a few good size ocean perch today and a handful of good eating size blue fish in the 4 to 6 lb range. Not one single unmentionable today and only one yesterday so that alone has made this weekend more enjoyable. Looks like more great weather on tap for tomorrow and Capt. Rich will be at the helm of the Gail Frances ready to set sail at 7am. A few pics today courtesy of Roger.
