Roger reported a very good day of local cod and sea bass fishing. We had the best showing of cod since before all the wind about a month ago. Hi hook had a half dozen keepers and a decent number of other fishers had four or five nice cod apiece to take home. The majority of folks left with a cod or two. Some quality fish in the 10 to 15 lb range today mixed amongst the keepers with the best of the lot around 15 lbs. Quite a few short cod as well. Both jigs and bait were working today. Diamond jigs in the 8 to 10z or hammerd styles are just fine for this type of local cod fishing. Easy boat limit of sea bass as well today with sizes upwards to 5 lbs. A few more scup in the mix as well today and some nice size ocean perch and virtually none of the unmentionables. Some pictures today provided courtesy of Roger.
Capt. Matt reported another excellent day aboard the black fish boat with quite a few limit catches and many others who were not far behind. Plenty of short tog today kept things rolling right along. Just a few handfuls of keeper sea bass today and a couple of short cod rounding out the species assortment for the day. Biggest fish of the day were around the 8 lb mark. Great weather on tap for tomorrow and the Lady Frances will be set to sail at 6 am for tog with Capt. Mike at the helm.
