Capt. Mike reported an excellent day aboard the black fish boat. Limits were common around the Lady Frances with most of those who did not limit still boxing a few to several nice tog apiece. Lots of quality fish in the 5-7 lb class today with a handful of bigger ones and the pool fish threatening the ten pound mark. Tremendous action with short black fish today too keeping anglers busy at the rails. Only a few keeper sea bass today and a handful of short cod fish rounding out the species assortment for the catching. It was a gorgeous day on the water. Tomorrow looks like another great day on the water and Capt. Mike will be ready to set sail at 6am for tatoug/black fish.
First mates Chris L and Doug H reported a great day aboard the Gail Frances today. An easy full boat limit of sea bass up to five pounds for a very enthusiastic Wednesday group of fishers and a respectable side of cod fish. Hi hooks on the cod grabbed 4 and 3 keepers each respectively. We had a couple nice bigger green fish mixed in with the smaller keepers today, both fish in the mid to high teens with longtime regular Gene Berry from Stamford CT taking the pool honors with a fine green white bellied cod that he jigged up which was just south of the 20 lb mark! Way to go Gene! A few other cod and quite a few big sea bass on the jigs and teasers as well but most of the action was with bait. Some porgies today but not all that many for the amount of fishers and baits in the waters. One keeper pollock, some short cod, some small ocean perch and a manageable amount of the unmentionables rounded out the catching and species assortment for the day. Friday will be the next cod/sea bass trip and the Gail Frances will set sail at 6am with Capt. Rich at the helm.
