Roger reported a very good day of fishing aboard the Gail Frances today. An enthusiastic turnout of fishers today and another easy boat limit of big sea bass to at least five pounds. We also had a half dozen really nice fat white bellied green cod today in the teens with the best of the lot just south of 20 lbs. A respectable amount of smaller keeper cod and quite a few throwbacks as well. A number of fishers had three cod apiece to go along with their limit of sea bass today, whether or not anyone had more cod per fisher is uncertain. A lot of big scup again today with some fishers easily filling a pail with just those scrappy silver pan fish and a few fishers easily getting their 30 fish bag limit. Sizes mixed but frequently upwards to 2lbs and beyond. Some big ocean perch and a rather remarkable amount of blue fish today and while there were a few gator size specimens in the low teens the vast majority of choppers were perfect 2-4 lb cocktail size which is also good since they are much more manageable that way. The unmentionables were worth a mention but in the grand scheme of things they caused a fraction of the trouble that they are capable of. Turned out to be a gorgeous day weather wise as well. It was an anchor day today and no one really tried jigging for any amount of time except one or two fishers who caught a couple short cod and a few sea bass before switching to bait. Just a few pictures today courtesy of Roger as there was just simply too much going on. More great weather tomorrow and the Gail Frances will be set to sail at 6pm with Capt. Rich at the helm.
First mate General Manager Cory Blount reported today was a tale of the haves and have nots aboard the Tatoug boat. A half dozen or so limit catches today including one fisher who doesn’t go tog fishing very often who easily limited on big tog up to 9 lbs! That for sure deserves a BRAVO! Pool fish today was around ten pounds and there were several other fish over 8 lbs today aboard the Lady. Not as many shorts today either but there was an increase in the number of keeper sea bass and one fine keeper cod fish. Great weather again tomorrow and the Lady Frances will be set to sail at 6 am with Capt. Mike at the helm.
