Roger reported a gorgeous blue bird November day on the local cod grounds. Fishing was fine once again with an easy boat limit of sea bass to 5 lbs and a few more cod than the past couple trips but most on the smaller keeper size with the best of the lot threatening but not quite making the ten pound mark. The cod were a bit more spread out today and majority of fishers took one to three keepers apiece home to go along with their sea bass limits. Lou P and his buddy from Niantic had four keeper cod apiece today for hi hook honors and Lou’s buddy also had one of the biggest sea bass of the trip with one that went at least 5 lbs as did Jim (also from Niantic) who had one that went 5 lbs! These gentlemen from Niantic can sure put a hurt on the fish! Well done gentlemen and always a pleasure fishing you fellas! Some nice size scup today as well with sizes to over 2 lbs but not quite in the quantity of yesterday, still some fishers grabbed upwards to a dozen or more apiece. Quite a few short cod once again and some big ocean perch today with a few pushing the 2 lb mark!! A couple of blue fish and at least one large sea flounder rounded out the desirable sector. In the undesirable sector they were a bit more menacing today, especially for those with color and higher hook placement but in the grand scheme of things they still were not too bad. Capt. Rich and crew would like to remind customers that stout gear and proper sinker weight are really vital to staying tangle free on these outings. There have been some fairly mind boggling tangles over the past few trips which is part of party boat fishing however these can be minimized and angler production maximized by using the proper equipment. Feel free to ask the crew for details regarding this. Also we would like to remind customers to please not bring too many extra rods aboard and ask the deckhands where extra rods can be stored. We understand the need for a spare but too many extra rods at the rail limits space for other customers and can prohibit the mates from effectively tending to customers rods in active use. A few cod and some smaller sea bass today on the jigs but bait was generally the way to go. Looks right now as though Mother Nature will try sideline us for Wednesday but should the forecast “brighten” up by tomorrow afternoon give a call to check on the status of a possible outing Veteran’s Day. Capt. Mike reported an excellent day of tog fishing aboard the Lady Frances. There were many customer limits and those who were just shy. Nothing big on the togs but lots of keepers and a tremendous amount of shorts providing plenty of action all day long. A few sea bass too mixed in today but no cod. We will be setting sail for tatoug tomorrow morning at 6am aboard the Lady Frances.
