Roger reported a mild near picture perfect day of near mid December weather on the water today and the tog fishing, while not rock star, was respectable considering we are in the late December of our tog season. Congrats to Mike Kwok who limited out on good size tog today( on clams) and there were a few other fishers who had 4-5 nice keeper tog apiece and those with 2 or 3 and so on. Overall the numbers of tog were up considerably from Tuesday but the numbers of cod were down with just a few nice keepers up to the 10 lb pool winner( well done Richard Walton from Torrington CT!) and a few handfuls of shorty cod fish. Some downright tremendous action with the shorty tog today with one fisher catching just south of 50 black fish ( 5 keepers) and the fisher did it using small strips of clam! Clams actually far outproduced crabs today for reasons known only to the togs themselves. More great weather on tap for tomorrow and Capt. Mike will be ready to set sail aboard the Lady Frances at 6 am for black fish. A few pictures today courtesy of Roger.
Great weather to look around for more cod and sea bass and Capt. Rich will set sail tomorrow morning at 6 am aboard the Gail Frances.
