Capt. Matt reported that last night’s squid trip was a bit lackluster. Results varied from high hook of 70 pieces down to 6 pieces. Big ground swell and dirty water were partly to blame. There were alot of bluefish in the area as well, which also didn’t bode well for successful squid fishing, but did put a few nice choppers in the boat. Although the bluefish were a bit of a nuisance, it is a good sign for perhaps some night bluefishing combo trips this summer. Bluefish have been a little sparse the last few years and therefore we have been targeting striped bass. This influx of blues may mean a new trip in store for our Frances Fleet customers! Stay tuned!
Although the squid trips have been a little slower the past few trips we still feel strongly that squid is far from being over, so give the office a call if you would like to make a reservation for the weekend.
