First mate Derrick reported squid fishing was just a slow pick last night. Some really nice size tubes but not in the quantity that we had hoped for. Perhaps all the windy weather this week had an effect. Longtime regular Rob from Western Mass did land a beautiful 36 inch Striper which was an angling hi light of yesterday evening. He was kind enough to send us a picture and it appears above today’s report. Turned out to be a generally nice night weather wise despite a quick shower and furthermore despite the gloom and doom picture the local weather man was painting. We still feel there is good squid fishing yet to come and we will try again based on angler interest next Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7 pm by reservation. Weather towards mid week and beyond right now is looking much better than what we experienced this past week. Fingers crossed!
Yesterday’s half day pm was slightly improved over the morning. This morning’s run is reportedly much better with a lot of nice keepers taken and a good number of fishers with two or three keepers apiece and lots of shorties and big catch and release sea bass to keep the rods bent and everyone busy. We will be sailing at 1pm this afternoon aboard the Lady Frances with Capt. Mike.
