First mates Chris L and Denny B reported a strong showing of good size fluke today aboard the Gail Frances. There were at least 20 jumbo fluke according to Chris and many others that were just shy of the 4 lb category. A few fish in the 7 lb range fought it out for bragging rights. A handful of fishers had four to six beautiful fluke apiece to take home. Some shorts but not quite as many as recent days and a tremendous amount of catch and release sea bass with sizes estimated to be mostly in the 3 to 5 lb category!! Next Friday cannot come soon enough. Bait rigs and whole squid seemed to be the ticket today despite a modest drift. Tremendous amounts of bait on the grounds with the fluke being chock full of squid and sand eels. Sounds like the fluke fishing is starting to come into fine form with good fishing being reported from well to the east to Block Island and also right along the local beaches. Some great pictures courtesy first mate Danny B. We look forward to another great day of weather and more great fishing tomorrow!! Capt. Rich will set sail at 7 am aboard the Gail Frances.
