Roger reported the morning half day was okay but certainly took a step back from some of the recent outings. Nevertheless some nice sea bass to 4 lbs and fluke to about the same size will make for some fine dining in the near future for some fishers. A couple of big scup mixed in too.
The afternoon half day was an all out sea bass bonanza with a full boat limit of sea bass up to 5 lbs and a couple of big fluke thrown in for good measure. The sea bass really stole the show however and provided lots of smiles among the fishers and bent rods up and down the rails of the Lady Frances. Biggest fish was taken by longtime fisher Doug Herman of CT who jigged up a fine 7 lb fluke. Way to go Doug! A picture of Doug and his big fluke appear courtesy deckhand Dustin. Remember just one half day tomorrow in the morning aboard the Lady Frances with Capt. Mike at the helm setting sail at 8 am.
Capt. George reported his afternoon half day charter for the Leslie Nester group from South County Hospital turned up some great sea bass fishing as well with fish to 5 lbs and on the way back in they stopped in a different spot and found a nice mess of fluke as well. What a great trip!! Fishers left with beautiful “full day like” bags of fillets.
Capt. Matt reported very good numbers of big sea bass today aboard the full day boat with most fishers easily limited out on the tasty northern relatives of the southern groupers with some of the biggest kind of biscuits with the best approaching the 5.5 lb mark! A respectable showing of fluke as well today including some really nice size specimens with a decent amount of jumbo fluke in the 5 to 6 lb range and the best of the lot taken by life long fisher Carol Paroni of Enfield CT with a slab just under the 7 lb mark. Picture of Carol and her pool fish appears courtesy first mate Chris L. Hi hook on the fluke took home 5 nice keepers today. A handful of scup and a few blue fish rounded out the species assortment for the day. Great weather on tap for fluke and sea bass fishing tomorrow and Capt. Rich will set sail aboard the Gail Frances at 7 am.
