Captain Mike reported a slow night of Bass Fishing, due to unexpectedly challenging and adverse weather conditions. The weather forecast looks much better for tonight, and there is still plenty of room on tonight’s trip. Call the office to make reservations if interested in trying your hand at nighttime Striper fishing with live eels! One picture courtesy longtime regular Ginny Reed.
First mate Danny reported the morning half day was excellent with lots of jumbo sea bass for fishers aboard the Lady Frances. A few handfuls of nice size fluke as well. Some sea bass limits. Back to normal tomorrow with half days that set sail at 8 am and again at 1pm. Back to back half days can net an angler a $10 discount off the second outing.
Whale Watching was canceled today as the offshore weather was reported to still be a bit bumpy. Tuesday is the next expedition and the weather right now sounds outstanding! Be sure to book on line or call the office if interested in going on Tuesday’s whale watch tour.
Capt. George reported an excellent full day charter for the Jeff Nevrath group today aboard the Admiral Frances. An easy full boat limit of sea bass with many of the fish in the 3 to 4 lb range and several that went up to and over 5 lbs with one estimated at close to six pounds. Fishers also had an excellent catch of mostly large and jumbo fluke. “Everything” required a net according to Capt. George and most of the fish were over 3 lbs with many in the 4-6 lb range and several up to 8 lbs vying it out for the big fish honors. Fishers went home with beautiful bags of fillets for some fine dining in the near future. Rental rod rigs worked quite well on today’s trip and drift conditions were described as “ideal”. Awesome job Capt. George and crew!!
First mates Chris L and Capt. Matt reported a very strong day of jumbo fluke and sea bass fishing aboard the Gail Frances today with Capt. Rich. The most fluke we have had in a few weeks with hi hook bagging six nice keepers and a fair number of other fishers who had several nice fluke apiece. Again quality was emphasized with the pool fish of 9 lbs followed by other fluke in the 7-8 lb range and many other jumbos in the 4 to 6 lb range. All terminal gear was reported to be effective and again rental rod set ups caught just fine today. Hardly secondary news but there was also an easy boat limit of the biggest kind of sea bass to nearly 6 lbs with many fish over 4lbs and a few fishers reported only keeping sea bass of 5 lbs or better!! Some nice size scup as well. More great fishing weather tomorrow, remember rain doesn’t bother the fish as they are already wet but it may be wise to bring rain gear as there is the chance of showers in the forecast. Capt. Matt will set sail aboard the Gail Frances at 7 am.
