Capt. Matt reported an excellent night of Bass fishing again last night aboard the Lady Frances. The action the first few drifts was absolutely wild!! Bass all through the water column feeding aggressively on big pods of squid, anglers were even hooking bass reeling up!! Quite a few short bass mixed in and one nice size fluke complimented a near boat limit of keepers with quite a few nice size fish with the largest of the lot in the mid 20’s. The bite did subside later on but it was still a pick and the damage by then had been done. We are excited at the possibility of another good trip tonight, the weather looks great and hopefully the bass will be as cooperative! Still plenty of space available, call the office to book a position(s). Capt. Matt will set sail aboard the Lady Frances this evening at 7 pm. Owner Christine Blount was aboard the Gail Frances today and took some great photos showcasing a few of the angler hi lights today shown below. Looks like some really nice fluke and sea bass. It was indeed a great day with well over 120 nice size fluke hitting the decks of the Gail and a full boat limit of good size sea bass. Pool fish today was a round speed bump like 29 inch fluke that tipped the scales at well over 9 lbs followed by another dozen big fluke in the six to eight pound range. About half of the keeper fluke today on board were in the 4 lb range. Sea bass sizes to four pounds and a couple of dozen nice size scup to 2 lbs rounded out the catch today. There were a few limit catches including longtime Frances Fleet regular customer John Toppa from Newport RI who easily limited out on good size fluke to 5 lbs. John used a double white hi lo bucktail rig that is put out by jigging world products and this rig is available at the Capt. Tackle shop where fishers are checked in for Frances Fleet trips. Weather today was as good as it gets for early August with cobalt blue skies, modest sea breezes and balmy temperatures. Tomorrow’s forecast ensures a drift and the showers are expected to hold off until later in the afternoon. The Gail Frances will set sail at 7 am with Capt. Rich at the helm.
Capt. Mike reported some quality sea bass and a couple nice fluke and big blue fish on the morning trip. Congrats to Evan Merrill on his big sea bass and pool winning blue fish. A couple photo high lights of Evan’s great catch appears below.
Capt. George reported an excellent afternoon half day with the best showing of fluke in quite some time, doubling and then some yesterday afternoon’s take. Some of the fluke were hefty 4 to 5 lb fish. An equal number of big sea bass with sizes to four pounds permitted all fishers to go home with enough fish for a dinner or perhaps two.
REMINDER JUST THE MORNING HALF DAY TOMORROW!! THE LADY FRANCES WILL SET SAIL AT 8 AM.
