Captain Matt reported a great day of fishing during the full day trip aboard the Gail Frances today. According to him, the fluke outnumbered the black sea bass 2:1 today, with the pool winner weighing a respectable 8.7 lbs! There were at least two dozen contenders that were in the 5-7 lb range, as well. Fluke fishing was so good, that at least 8 people caught their limit, with high hook landing an astounding 15 keepers (which were graciously shared with a few anglers whose coolers were less full).
According to Captain Mike, half day fishing was a bit slow in the morning, due to poor drift conditions. However, a respectable number of sea bass made their way on deck, with half as many scup to join them in the coolers. Some of the scup were quite large – up to 18″ and roughly 2lbs in weight! The morning trip netted a few keeper fluke as well. Things picked up in the afternoon, where fewer anglers managed to catch a similar number of black sea bass as on the morning trip, in addition to some equally large scup. Two keeper fluke also joined the fray aboard the Lady Frances during the afternoon. First mate Greg said everyone left with some fish and that a “good time was had by all”.
More good times await you aboard the Frances Fleet tomorrow – the Jumbo Fluke and Sea Bass full day trip leaves at 7AM, and the Half Day Fishing trips leave at 8AM and 1PM tomorrow. There will also be a Whale Watching trip departing tomorrow at 1PM. Call the office to make reservations!
