Captain Rich reported a slower day of fishing today during the full day trip. Anglers aboard the Gail Frances caught some nice fluke up to 7 lbs, in addition to sea bass, which were mostly in the average range, though there were a few “joes” according to first mate Chris. In addition to the fluke and sea bass, a few scup found their way into coolers. Several anglers caught their limits of both fluke and sea bass, though some anglers were far less fortunate.
Captain Mike reported a slow morning half day trip as well, due to poor drift conditions. However, fishermen and fisherwomen were able to catch a few fluke and some sea bass to take home for dinner. The afternoon trip was much more successful, according to Captain George, and might be counted as the highlight of the day, in terms of fishing. Anglers on the 1-5 caught some nice fluke to 6lbs, with twice as many keeper sea bass. In addition, steady short action kept everyone at the rail entertained and happy. A stray blue caused for a bit more excitement, as well. According to the captain, everyone left the afternoon trip with some fish to take home!
Tomorrow, all our regularly scheduled trips are planning to sail: At 7AM, the full day Jumbo Fluke and Sea Bass trip departs, followed by the morning Half Day trip at 8AM. At 1PM the afternoon Half Day trip will sail, and in the evening the Night Striped Bass should be leaving the dock at 7PM. Tomorrow’s marine forecast indicates that conditions might be a bit windy with some “bumps”, though hopefully that will mean great drifting conditions for the Fluke and Sea Bass fishing!
