Capt. Matt reported a RED HOT start to the night bass trip last night with a nice mess of keepers to 20 lbs and an equal number of shorts in the first hour and a half of fishing!! Then the bite began to ebb so Capt. Matt went searching and found a nice pile of hungry alligator blue fish for the fishers aboard with sizes on the blue fish well into the mid teens!! Overall an excellent night of fishing! It was really nice to have those blue fish mixed in which have been so absent much of the past couple seasons. Tonight we still have plenty of room but already enough to go so if interested in going, please call the office to make an official reservation. A couple of great pictures courtesy of longtime regular John P. The Lady Frances will set sail at 7 pm with Capt. Matt.
The report from the morning half day was of some good action with sea bass, porgies and a couple of fluke. Capt. George reported the afternoon trip saw sea bass pleasing patrons but a handful of nice keeper fluke managed to sneak aboard as well but the biggest most exciting moments was the pod of Sperm Whales that were frolicking nearby! Sperm Whales are rare and what is even more rare is how close to shore they were!! A truly special half day treat for the fishers aboard the Admiral Frances. Capt. George also called over Capt. Matt aboard the Whale Watch boat so the whale enthusiasts aboard could get in on viewing these beautiful creatures and turned that outing into a memorable one as well. A well done to Capt. George today! Still room on tomorrow’s Whale Watch, call the office if interested in making a reservation.
Two half days on tap tomorrow with the first set to sail at 8 am aboard the Lady Frances and the second at 1pm aboard the Admiral Frances.
A slow start but a strong finish aboard the Gail Frances today. Longtime regular Tom Lombardi from CT took the pool with a fine 11.6 lb slab weighed in the store on the Capt. Tackle calibrated certified contest scale. General Manager Cory said the fish was well over 12 lbs when first boated this morning. Tom also had a fish up around 7 lbs and he was easily limited out on big fluke and was giving them away to fishers who did not catch as well!! Tom used a home made buck tail jig with a strip of boat squid and spearing to tempt the big slab and all of his other big fluke and sea bass. Longtime regular Mark also easily limited out on good size fluke and big sea bass and so on. Word is that there were a lot of quality fish in the 5 to 9 lb range boated today and that the last spot of the day was some very hectic fishing with three mates running around the boat ragged netting big fluke and some slammer sea bass. Some fishers did very well today and others not as well but overall the quality makes it a very solid day. It seemed to be more of a buck tail kind of day today. A lot of nice sea bass and some slammer scup mixed in as well. A picture of Tom’s big fish appears courtesy of General Frances Fleet Manager Cory Blount. The Gail Frances hopes for more of the same tomorrow and will set sail at 7 am with Capt. Rich at the helm.
