The weather towards the end of the week looks very unsettled and if anyone would like to jump trips and go tomorrow please call the office.
Roger thought today’s cod fish results were pleasantly surprising considering the five days of heavy northeast winds just endured here. The water was not dirty at all and there were few if any unmentionables which were two of our biggest concerns in going out after such weather. While the fish were not as spread out as we would have liked to see Capt. Rich found most locations sampled to have a pick of cod fish. A lot of short cod fish mixed in with the keepers today. A handful of nice green fish in the 10-15 lb range today among a catch of smaller market size fish. Longtime regular customer Mike from Flushing NY bagged four nice cod including a couple in the low teens while longtime customer Mark from NJ boxed four good cod fish and regular customer Victor from Providence had three cod to bring home and so on. A decent amount of big scup up to nearly 3 lbs, some big ocean perch, a few red hake, one sea flounder and a few sea ravens rounded out the day’s assortment of cellar dwellers. Bait was the way to go today. The weather turned out to be just fine as well and by later in the day we were able to turn the Gail loose on the drift. A few pictures today courtesy of Roger. Great fishing weather on tap tomorrow and Capt. Rich will set sail on the Gail Frances at 6am.
