Capt. Matt reported an excellent day of tog fishing for an enthusiastic turnout of tog fishers. Many limit catches around the Lady Frances and quite a few other fishers were close. Some good size tog today with a few fish in the 9 lb range battling it out for bragging rights but the rights once again belong to longtime customer and exceptional rod handler Connie Tu from Warwick RI. Way to go Connie! In addition to all the keepers was an astounding number of short tog with fishers generally busy all day long keeping interest levels high at the rail. Just a few keeper sea bass today and a couple of keeper cod fish. Next tog trip will set sail tomorrow morning aboard the Lady Frances at 6 am.
Capt. Ted reported a good day aboard the cod/sea bass boat for the very light load of fishers who came out to join us on a fine mid November day. Gino Houle from Pawtucket RI took the pool again today with a cod fish in the mid teens and Gino also had one of the biggest white hake we have seen in many years at just north of 15 lbs! Gino had a total of 3 keeper cod and two white hake all on jigs. Capt. Ted reported several other fishers had three or four keeper cod apiece. Both jigs and bait produced. Since last Sunday cod fishing has begun to show some sign of improvement. It isn’t red hot with fishers limiting out but there is some noticeable improvement overall and this trend should more or less continue going forward as more herring shows up. Good numbers of sea bass to 3.5 lbs today with most fishers limiting out and some better size scup to over 2 lbs mixed in once again. Quite a few big ocean perch, a handful of red hake, a couple blue fish, a nice sea flounder, a nice keeper fluke and just a few unmentionables rounded out the species assortment today. A picture of Gino’s two biggest fish of the day provided courtesy of Roger. The Gail Frances will set sail at 6 am tomorrow with Capt. Rich at the helm.
