Oh what a winter it has been. It’s been a very warm winter but that means lots of wind. It looks like it may die out tomorrow but then puff again on the weekend. We plan on sailing tomorrow at 6am. Reservations are booked online at Francesfleet.com
We had a slower day on the cod grounds today. We tried a few zones close to Island and found some life but nothing to really work on. We did have some short action in the mix bt it was still very slow. This upcoming week look very windy.
Unfortunately we had to cancel tomorrows trip due to a mechanical issue. All reservations have been notified by email
Had a nice day on the water but much slower fishing then we had on Saturday. We found a few fish anchor up on bait. Talked a few boats who were drifting and jigging and seeing some more fish. We tried some drift and found a few but nothing solid to work on. No sail tomorrow but back on Tuesday.
Captain Cole reported a much improved day on the cod grounds. We had fish on both bait and jigs. Few good shots of fish and some slow points but nice to see fish ever where we tried. Best actions did see 10 keepers boated in 15 mins. Sailing tomorrow morning at 6am on the LADY by reservation.
Looking like no rain, light seas, and temps in the 40s. We are planning on sailing both days at 6am on the Lady Frances. Reservations are required booked right online at Francesfleet.com before 5pm the day before sailing.

A few photos from Saturdays trip. We took a ride and found some fish on wrecks and rock piles. It was great but it was a good sign to see some cod after the blow. Jigs and bait but had cod fish. We are planning on sailing tomorrow at 6am (Not 5am yet). Reservations are booked online at francesfleet.com
Thursday December 29th
We had some tough fishing and tough weather days the past few days but things are looking up for the end of the year. Tuesday and Wednesday were some of the slowest trips of the year. The weather was wrong and the fishing was tough. we picked away on a few sea bass, cunners and cod but nothing like we want to see. Today did see an improvement with the weather and fishing. Tomorrow and Saturday are looking great and we will be sailing with a few spots to check out. Sailing at 6am
The Frances Fleet would love to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. The weather for the upcoming week is look great and we plan on getting in some late season sea bass and cod trips. Sea bass season closes on 01/01 so get in on it this week. Reservations are booked online at francesfleet.com
Captain Cole reported a very nice day in late December on the grounds. Its amazing what 24 hours makes this time of the year. 7ft seas to flat as a pond in 24 hours. We had a great group of anglers who wanted to get out and get some fish for the freezer. We took the long ride and it was only OK. We had to pick through the pin sea bass to make a day out of it. We did seem more cod life around with the cooler temperatures. We did mark stacks of fish but they seemed to have lockjaw before the storm or maybe there were waiting for Christmas dinner. We will be tied to the dock till after Christmas and keeping an eye on the weather for the following week. Long range forecast does have some fishable days before the end of the year.
