Capt. Rich reported another awesome day of fluke and sea bass fishing today with a moderate crowd of anglers putting 150 good size fluke to 12lbs and over 100 nice sea bass up to 5lbs on the deck and into the bags and coolers on the Gail Frances today. Needless to say there were many fluke limits but the numbers did vary somewhat from angler to angler. Sea bass numbers varied as well but a number of anglers aboard had upwards to a half dozen nice sea bass apiece to take home. The pool fish today was the behemoth 12lb slab taken by longtime regular customer Mr. Kim from the NY metro area. Mr. Pak from NJ had the next biggest fish of the day with a slab around 9lbs. Quite a few other nice jumbo fluke in the four to seven plus pound range as well mixed in amongst all the other nice keepers. A few other angler hi lights today include but are not limited to the following: Longtime regular customer Roger from Bristol CT who easily limited out on nice fluke to 7lbs and had a half dozen good size sea bass to boot while Jim from NJ also had his limit of summer flatties to over 7lbs and the aforementioned Mr. Kim who easily limited out and as you all know by now had the pool winning 12lbr plus a few hefty sea bass to go with. Sounds like bucktails were more or less the way to go today especially with the slower drift conditions that plagued anglers through a good part of the trip but nonetheless the big fluke and sea bass were eagerly eating! Capt. Rich looks forward to another good day on the water tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
7AM REPORT FOR YESTERDAY 8/11/11 AND 8AM FULL DAY AND HALF DAY CHARTER REPORT FOR 8/12/11
Details recently forthcoming on yesterday’s 7am full day trip indeed confirm that fishing was way off from the past two days but I would hardly call it poor. Hi hook was Mr. Pak who put six fine keepers in the boat and took the pool with a slab that went just under 8lbs. There was a fair amount of good size sea bass and quite a showing of blue fish including a few in the ten pound range. A report for today’s 7am full day boat will be available later today.
Capt. Mike reported the 8am full day trip today was slow but they did manage some nice size fluke with a handful of fish in the 5 to 6lb range. Hi hook today did go home with five nice keepers. A few sea bass today but nothing special. The next 8am full day trip will not sail until NEXT WEDNESDAY AUGUST 17TH.
Capt. Chris reported the Dwayne Matthews charter recieved a fair mix of both keeper fluke and sea bass today. Nothing earth shattering but some nice fish and plenty of tasty fillets for some good meals to come.
Some scant word has come to the office on the Night Striper fishing the past two nights and none of it was favorable but the writer will be trying to ascertain more details, for better or worse, and post them in a subsequent update.
REPORTS FOR THURSDAY AUGUST 10TH 2011
The morning half day was reported to have a great turnout of anglers but very slow fishing with just a few fluke and nice size sea bass while the 8am full day trip was also hampered by poor drift conditions and thus not the numbers of keepers on the fluke and sea bass that had been coming aboard that boat as well. The drift and fishing on the 8am full day did pick up a bit later in the day but alas it was almost time to go home. The only word from the 7am full day boat was that fishing was not like it had been the previous two days.
These were the only details from yesterday’s fishing trip made available to the writer.
WEDNESDAY WAS ANOTHER BIG DAY FOR THE 7AM FULL DAY FLUKE/SEA BASS BOAT!!!, AUGUST 10TH 2011
Capt. Rich reported another super crush on both the fluke and sea bass today with a moderate group of anglers putting 300 plus keeper fish in the boat an even split of good size fluke and nice size sea bass. Sizes on the sea bass to 5lbs and sizes on the fluke to 10lbs with the 10lbr being the pool winner for the day. Just about everything was working and everyone went home with fish and the majority went home with lots of it!! Needless to say there were lots of fluke limits and at least a handful of sea bass limits. Capt. Mike is out there today so look for a new report a bit later this evening.
On the half day front yesterday there was nothing really too exciting to report with a few nice fluke and some hefty sea bass to 5lbs in the morning but even less than that on the 1pm mid afternoon trip due to tough drift condtions. Today’s half days are at 8am and again at 4pm.
No word yet on last night’s Striper trip. Plenty of room on tonight’s Striper run so please call the office if interested in booking.
CAPT. RICH DOES IT AGAIN ON THE 7AM FULL DAY WITH ANOTHER CRUSH JOB ON BOTH SEA BASS AND BIG FLUKE WITH ANOTHER DOUBLE DIGIT POOL FISH!!! TODAY, TUESDAY AUGUST 9TH
Capt. Rich reported another awesome day of fishing for a very modest group of anglers. Over 150 keeper fluke including many many jumbos over 5lbs and more than 100 big sea bass up to at least 4lbs filled the anglers bags and coolers today on the Gail Frances. Again there were many many limits of both fluke and sea bass today and quite a few of the anglers aboard were limited out on both!! This may just be about the best season ever for both species and there have been some good summers in season’s past. Based on the sheer number sound logic would dictate that just about anything with a hook floating around on the bottom would get one dinner. Jim Izzo of Westbrook CT took the day’s pool with another slob of a fluke that checked in at 10.6lb doormatt. Well done Jim! Capt. Rich will be at it again tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
The 1pm half day report just came in as well and it was quite good with a great turnout of fluke enthusiasts putting a great catch of keepers on to the deck of the Admiral Frances and about half of these fish being of the jumbo category (over 4lbs). Pool fish was 8lbs. Tomorrow is a three trip half day schedule with trips setting sail at 8am 1pm and 4pm. Remember if one does two half days in the same day he or she can recieve ten dollars off the second one.
Plenty of room on tomorrow night’s Striper trip so if interested please call the office for booking details.
NO 8AM FULL DAY TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 10TH 2011
Capt. Frank wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, Wednesday August 10th there is no 8am full day trip. There will be one full day trip at 7am settting sail on the Gail Frances. All the other half day trips and Night Striper fishing will sail as scheduled. The 8am full day boat will resume normal sailing schedule on Thursday Augst 11th.
7AM FULL DAY SEA BASS MEGA CRUSH AND JUMBO FLUKE CRUSH ONCE AGAIN ON THE GAIL FRANCES WITH CAPT. RICH, TODAY AUGUST 8TH 2011!!!
Capt. Rich reported another all out assault on the jumbo sea bass and jumbo fluke today. A moderate group of anglers combined for over 200 big sea bass up to 5lbs plus 100 big fluke up to 8lbs. There were a number of fluke limits and a LOT of sea bass limits. Word from the crew was the majority of the fluke were jumbo category in the four to five pound range. Wow! Can fishing really get any better on that boat?? With numbers like that for the number of anglers aboard it is probably safe to say that just about everything including the kitchen sink was producing nice fish today. Simply Amazing. Capt. Rich looks forward to more nice weather and good fishing tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Taken half way through the trip before the bite really got hot, nice fluke the kind we like to see here on the 8am full day boat!!
8AM FULL DAY CRUSH ON THE ADMIRAL FRANCES WITH CAPT MIKE!!/AM HALF DAY AND AM HALF CHARTER REPORT FOR MONDAY AUGUST 8TH 2011
Capt. Mike was pleased to report an awesome day of fluke fishing for the handful of anglers who decided to hop on the 8am full day. Mr. Pak, Sin and his son and another friend all easily limited out on nice fluke to six pounds today with quite a few fish in the 4 to 5lb range and they also had a few nice sea bass apiece to go along with their fluke. The other anglers aboard did not limit out but all had several nice fluke and a few sea bass apiece to take home. The best bite coincided with the heaviest downpours when the fluke just really went crazy and all the anglers braved the elements to cash in on the hot bite. Several hefty sea bass in the 3 to 4lb range today with one bomber of just under 5lbs. Quite a few shorts to keep the anglers busy, especially Roger. Roger had the only blue fish of the day, good for him! Mr. Pak and the boys had their great success today with bucktails. It was definitely a bucktail kind of a day with a very slow drift. Hi light of the day was Sin’s son who brought in a double header that included fluke of six and four pounds!! That is double header they would be proud of on the 7am boat! Anyways it was a great day of fishing and Capt. Mike looks forward to another good day tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 8am.
Capt. Keith reported a decent morning of fishing with a nice bunch of keepers and a fine 27 inch seven pound pool fish plus plenty of shorts to provide steady action. Reports for the 1pm and 4pm half days will be available later on today.
Capt. Chris reported the Greg Bower half day charter had a nice mix of good size sea bass and some nice fluke plus plenty of shorts to keep the anglers quite entertained today. Still some great availability during the month of August for charters on the Capt. Frances which is perfect for those small to medium size groups such as the one we had this morning.
STRIPER CHARTER CRUSH LAST NIGHT AT THE FRANCES FLEET, FULL BOAT LIMIT , SUNDAY NIGHT AUGUST 7TH 2011!!!
Capt. Chris and first mate Nicky were elated to report that the Eric Fritz Striper charter was an absolute all out assault on the Stripers with the group easily accumulating a full boat limit of good size Stripers including several hefty bass in the mid 20s and most in the 15 to 20lb range. A nice bunch of blue fish to the low teens to compliment a great catch of Stripers. Too bad once again the open boat did not make it out as the previous thinking of last night’s tide being near perfect for Stripers was exactly how it played out. Still some prime dates available for private Striper charters so call the office if interested in booking and ask to speak to Tammy or Roger.
