QUALITY NOT QUANITITY BEST DESCRIBES LAST NIGHT’S STRIPER TRIP!!/ REPORT FOR THURSDAY AUGUST 4TH 2011
Capt. Ray reported size but not numbers was the best way to describe the Striper fishing last night. Striper regular customer Chang from Providence took the pool last night with a cow linesider of just under 45lbs! Chang also had his limit of Stripers last night and we wish Chang the best of luck as he is entered in a local Southeast Asia Striper tournament of which a winning fish would provide him with a very healthy payout. We wish him the best of luck and will keep you posted! Shane Brennan who was out with us the night before and got blanked made up for it last night bringing a sharp looking Stiper to the deck of the Lady Frances that went 32lbs. Well done Shane! A handful of other nice Stripers and some blue fish made up the rest of the night’s catch. It was not great fishing by any means but the Stripers we did get were genearlly of good size. We try again tonight and Capt. Ray looks forward to taking the Lady Frances out at 7pm. Plenty of room still available for tonight’s run so call the office if interested in booking a trip.
7 AND 8AM FULL DAY FISHING REPORTS, FLUKING CONTINUES EXCELLENT AT THE FRANCES FLEET, TODAY THURSDAY AUGUST 4TH 2011!!
Capt. Mike reports the 7am full day trip today was nothing short once again of sensational. A relatively modest group of anglers put more than 125 nice keeper fluke onto the deck of the Gail Frances along around three dozen nice size sea bass. Biggest sea bass was easily 6lbs while the pool winning fluke honors went to John “Sandwich” Mag from Newington Ct who put a fine 9lb plus slab into the safety of the net and onto the deck of the Gail Frances. John like so many other anglers on board today easily had his full limit of good size keepers plus three nice sea bass and Capt. Mike reported that a good number of today’s keeper fluke were 4lbs or better. Next 7am full day sets sail aboard the Gail Frances tomorrow morning with Capt. Rich.
Capt. Chris reported the 8am full day trip also saw some great fishing today with Gil, longtime regular customer but known more commonly to those in his inner circle, as “The 1999 New England Fisherman of the Year!” and Gil demonstrated his fluke expertise putting five fine keepers in the boat including the pool winner which Capt. Chris said would easily go over 6lbs. Well done Gil! Ivan Franson from Ct had one of the year’s biggest sea bass with a fish that tipped the scales at 6.5lbs. The majority of the anglers aboard according to Capt. Chris had three to five nice fluke apiece to take home along with a sea bass or two. there were other hefty sea bass over 3lbs recorded on the Admiral Frances today. In addition to the fluke and sea bass, Capt. Chris reported a few nice porgies, one fine blue fish and plenty of shorts to keep the anglers busy at the rails. The drift was rather fast today with the fish readily chasing down baits but long leadered bait rigs the key today. Next 8am full day sets sail tomorrow morning on the Admiral Frances with Capt. Mike and first mate Capt. Matt.
GOOD AM HALF DAY TODAY ON THE LADY FRANCES, THURSDAY AUGUST 4TH 2011!
Capt. Keith reported the easterly breeze promoted some excellent drift conditions down the beach this morning on the AM half day. A nice turnout of half day enthusiasts enjoyed a solid pick of keeper fluke to 5lbs and plenty of shorts plus a nice scattering of black sea bass including a couple of nice ones in the 3lb range. Next half day trip sets sail at 4pm today aboard the Admiral Frances.
STRIPER REPORT FROM LAST NIGHT/4PM HALF FROM LAST NIGHT, WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3RD 2011
Capt. Chris reported a good evening half day with the Lee family from Boston bringing 7 nice fluke back to town. In general a lot of quality keepers to 7lbs plus a handful of nice sea bass and the short fluke were active and hungry once again keeping the anglers entertained at the rails. The big catch of the night was the 8lb blue fish skillfully brought to the net by Andrew Mercurio. Young Andrew skillfully sightfished a fine 20lb Mahi on last Sunday’s special cod trip. Andrew seems to be quite the tour de force with the pool winning pelagics as of late. Well done once again Andrew!
Capt. Ray and first mate Nicky reported that the Striper trip last night was busy for blue fish but kind of quiet on the Striper side of the things. A handful of Stripers came aboard but the slower drift did not provide us with the Striper action we have been becoming accustomed to this summer. Next Striper trip tonight sets sail at 7pm with Capt. Ray and there is still plenty of room available.
7AM BIG FLUKE AND BIG SEA BASS CRUSH ONCE AGAIN ON THE GAIL FRANCES, TODAY WEDNESDAY AUGUST 3RD 2011!!!
Capt. Rich reported that the fishing was once again out of this world on the 7am full day boat. A moderate amount of anglers had 120 keeper fluke and nearly 150 good size sea bass. There were many many limits of both species today and some anglers were fortunate to limit out on both!! What a year for this trip, eh!!! All terminal gear was effective today whether it be bucktails or rental rods or regular packaged bait rigs or any combination of. There were at least twenty fish over 6lbs with the biggest 8.5lbs and a few others chasing its tail in the 8lb range and the majority of the keepers were 4lbs or better. Biggest sea bass was around 5lbs for the day with many in the two to three pound range. Capt. Mike looks forward to another good day tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
8AM FULL DAY REPORT/ AM HALF AND MID AFTERNOON HALF DAY REPORTS FOR TODAY PLUS A FEW OLDER PREVIOUSLY NON PUBLISHED REPORTS
Capt. Mike reported an okay 8am full day today with a nice mix of keeper fluke and sea bass. A slammer sea bass once again took the pool this time with a fish of nearly six pounds! Just about everyone left with dinner anyways. Next 8am full day sets sail tomorrow morning aboard the Admiral Frances.
Capt. Chris reported that today’s morning half day report was of some excellent fluke fishing right in our own back yard with a great haul of keepers to 7lbs plus a handful of big sea bass to nearly 5lbs. Hi hook had 4 keepers.
Capt. Keith reported the 1pm half day had a lot of action with the short fluke and a good haul of nice size keepers to at least 5lbs mixed in plus some good looking keeper sea bass to make for a really fun trip in some fine early August weather.
REPORTS FROM EARLIER THIS WEEK PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED:
Capt. Ray and first mate Nicky reported that Sunday Night’s Striper trip was outstanding with near a full boat limit of Stripers up to 25lbs. It was one of those nights with near perfect conditions..perfect strong tide and 100pct Stripers…no blues or dogs or skates or anything but Stripers. Too bad more anglers were not out with us to enjoy it. This late report was posted as soon as the details became available to the office.
Yesterday’s half day 1pm to 5pm trip is also certainly worth mentioning as there were a lot of big fluke taken with the best around 7lbs. There was one full limit catch plus Mike and his brother from Bristol CT combined for 9 good size keepers and 4 sea bass. Most of the fluke were 4lbs or better! Now that is some awesome half day fishing!!!
Also as speculated prior Monday’s 7am full day was excellent. Lots of limit catches of big fluke with quite a few nice keeper sea bass mixed in as well.
