Capt. Rich reported the good fishing and warm pleasant weather brought out fluke ethusiasts from all over the northeast today and for the most part there were few dissapointments. Over 150 quality keeper fluke hit the decks of the Gail Frances today with the biggest a fine 11lb slab and the next biggest 9lbs but neither were in the pool so the bragging rights and bulging wallet honors went to an angler with an 8lb flattie yesterday. There were a handful of limit catches and a respectable number of anglers who were very close to a limit catch. All in all a good number of fish over 5lbs but there were more normal size keepers in the mix yesterday. Not quite as many sea bass as some of the previous trips yesterday but still a solid sampling of the tasty grouper relatives. The Gail Frances is out again today so look for a full report later this evening.
COMBO/STRIPER/AND PM HALF DAY REPORTS FOR SATURDAY EVENING JULY 16TH 2011
Capt. Chris and first mate Nicky Blount reported the combo trip was awesome! The after dark squid fishing was red hot with anglers getting upwards to nearly 100 tubes apiece for hi hooks with others doing 40 to 50 pieces apiece easily. Nothing big but still some good size tubes in the mix and these smaller squid make AMAZING bait and food fare! For those interested in the bottom finfish side of things. A nice mixed bag of scup to nearly 4lbs(21 inches!!!) and sea bass up to 5lbs and a few keeper fluke gave anglers some fine fillets for the table. By far the most productive bait was the fresh caught natural squid but the furnished squid and spearing did the trick as well. Night combo trips sail Friday and Saturday Nights by reservation at 7pm.
Capt. George reported a great evening half day of fishing very locally. The emphasis was on quality with an excellent haul of keeper fluke and most of them being fish over 20 inches with many 4 to 5lbrs taken and the biggest up around 7lbs or a bit better. A good number of anglers had two and three big fluke apiece to take home. A few hefty sea bass and some short fluke, short sea bass and a couple sea robins kept rods bent and anglers attentive at the rail. Capt. Ray reported some nice bass to 20lbs and a few blue fish and one nice fluke for a sold out crowd. Plenty of room on tonight’s Striper trip so if interested please call the office to make a reservation.

Capt. Rich reported an awesome turnout of eager fluke and sea bass enthusiasts to enjoy this awesome temperate summer day and the fishing was almost as good as the weather. More than 150 big fluke and 50 big sea bass hit the decks of the Gail Frances today. There were at least six fluke over 8lbs with Mike Jung from Peace Token getting three of those slabs himself, but loosing the pool to a fellow with a slab over 10lbs!!! There were many other fluke over 5lbs, there were many limit catches. The fish were not as spread out amongst the anglers aboard with a good number of anglers doing exceptionally well and others not faring the same but that is party boat fishing. All terminal gear had its moments today but during times of slow drift the bucktails of various kinds were deadly. Biggest sea bass in the four plus pound range. Capt. Rich looks forward to enjoying both more gorgeous weather and good fishing tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Chris reported Steve from Hillside Landscaping from CT, who faithfully charters with us year after year, enjoyed an awesome day of fluking today. They combined for nearly 70 big fluke and close to two dozen big sea bass. Biggest fluke caught by Eric went a solid 8lbs with two thirds of the keeper fluke between 4 and 7lbs. A good number of the anglers on the charter easily limited out on big fluke today. Biggest sea bass was 5lbs and most were in the 2 to 3.5lb range. They also had some unbelievable action with short fluke amidst all the keepers so there was NEVER a dull moment and all hands aboard enjoyed a great day of fishing in some of the finest summer weather Mother Nature can offer here along the Rhode Island shoreline. This awesome catch of jumbo fluke and slammer sea bass was ENTIRELY on bait rigs/rental rod set ups. Not one person was using bucktails! Still some choice dates available for the Capt. Frances private charters this summer so if interested call the office to discuss booking details with Tammy or Roger.

A friendly reminder about tipping. A good trip deserves a good tip!! Party boat mates, like bartenders and waiters make a small scale and are largely dependant upon customer tips for their income. Remember Party Boat mates are responsible for clearing the tangles, preparing the bait, gaffing/netting the fish, cleaning the fish, and helping to make the customer experience a pleasant one!
