Capt. Mike reported it was all about the size of the fluke today. A great turnout of fluke enthusiasts this morning were generally well rewarded for their efforts putting over 100 keeper fluke in the boat with the vast majority in the jumbo catagory once again of 4lbs or better, in fact there were over 30 fish over 6lbs with the two fish in the 10lb range or perhaps a tad larger to fight it out for the pool. A number of anglers had several nice fish apiece to take home but whether or not anyone or any number of anglers limited out has not yet been made clear. Capt. Mike reported that the fish were fairly well spread out amongst the anglers which means all terminal gear was generally equally effective. All these good size fish were caught also under very poor drift or lack of drift conditions according to the crew as well. Anglers had a few blue fish to take home and threw back a big old mess of good size sea bass that as of this date are as everyone knows still out of season. Capt. Rich is at the helm tomorrow and the Gail Frances will set sail at 7am for the next full day jumbo fluke adventure.
GOOD HALF DAY MORNING FLUKE TRIP ON THE LADY FRANCES WITH CAPT. KEITH, FRIDAY JULY 1ST 2011
Capt. Keith reported very good fishing on the morning half day trip with a nice mix of keepers to nearly 7lbs and plenty of shorts to keep anglers tuned in at the rails. Drift conditons were less than ideal as well but the weather was awesome and the fluke cooperative. Hi hook took home three nice keepers to 4.5lbs. All terminal gear was working but the tandem bait rig with spearing seemed to be the way to go on the slow drift today. Spros or other bucktails would have also been productive today but did not see anyone employing them. Next half day trip will set sail this afternoon at 4pm on the Admiral Frances.
FLUKE REPORTS FOR THURSDAY JUNE 30TH 2011/ PLENTY OF ROOM ON TOMORROW NIGHT’S STRIPER TRIP (JULY 1ST)!!
Capt. Richie reported a solid day of fishing despite some windy weather and slightly sporty seas at times. Mr. Pak easily limited out and took the pool with a fine slab of over 9lbs while another angler also had his limit without breaking a sweat. A good number of the other anglers went home with several keepers apiece and just about everyone went home with at least dinner. Still quite a few nice jumbo fluke in the mix. More and more blue fish showing up as well providing some extra sport and extra digging in those tackle boxes for some extra fluke rigs as well. The usual out of season sea bass to toss back but now its only 11 days away til they can go over the rail and in the pail! Capt. Mike looks forward to a good day on the water tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Keith reported a very good half day morning trip with a big mess of keepers to 27 inches and 8 lbs and plenty of shorts to keep things very busy. The afternoon trip did not have as many keepers but anglers had lots of action with the short fluke as well which kept the rods bent and the anglers paying attention at the rail. Tomorrow is July 1st so the half day schedule going forward will be daily 8am to Noon and 4pm to 8pm with the 1pm to 5pm trip ONLY on Monday through Wednesdays.
Plenty of room on tomorrow night’s Striper trip. Capt. Ray will be at the helm, set to sail on the Lady Frances at 7pm, fishing was outstanding last week and we are hoping for a repeat Call the office to book a spot.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 29TH FISHING REPORT
Capt. Rich reported a good day of fluke fishing with a lot of jumbo fluke again hitting the decks of the Gail Frances. Seems most of the keepers continue to be big fish of 4 pounds and up with a few smaller and then plenty of little throwbacks mixed in to keep things busy. A few more blue fish and less in the way of those out of season sea bass in addition to the fluke. Mike Yung from Peace Token Tackle had the days best fluke with a slab that scaled over 9lbs. Capt. Rich looks forward to more graeat weather and good fishing tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
The report from the half day trips was of more good fishing. The nice weather brought out short term fluke enthusiasts in full force for the afternoon trip and they were treated to some lock and load action with the fluke along the south shore Rhode Island Beaches with a nice bunch of keepers to 5lbs in the mix amongst all the shorts. A nice mess of trophy size out of season sea bass were tossed back as well. Tomorrow’s half day schedule reads two trips, one at 8am and the next at 1pm aboard the Lady Frances.
GOOD FISHING ALL AROUND TUESDAY JUNE 28TH AT THE FRANCES FLEET
Capt. Rich reported a good day of fluke fishing today despite slow drift conditions. There were at least one or two limits today and a good number of anglers had a few to several nice fluke apiece to take home. Pool fish went 9.5lbs and there was lots of catch and release action with the sea bass and some good sport with a bunch of hard charging good size blue fish. Capt. Rich looks forward to another good day today with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Mike reported both half days to be very sucessful with a nice mix of keepers and plenty of shorts on both trips to keep anglers very busy. Biggest fish for the day in the five pound range on the fluke. Customers also tossed back plenty of fine sea bass including some real whoppers and even some blue fish were mixed in today. Next set of half day trips slated for Wednesday are at 8am and 1pm.
Capt. Chris reported his 8am to 3pm full day charter was very good today with a nice mess of keepers and plenty of shorts to keep the pace moving right along. Capt. Chris also reported tossing back lots of big sea bass as well. Good news is that its less than two weeks away now to when we can keep these things!
FISHING REPORT FOR MONDAY JUNE 27TH 2011
Capt. Rich reported a slower day of fishing with little to no drift but gorgeous weather. The beautiful weather brought out a great group of fluke enthusiasts who worked really hard for the fish they got. Still a good number of fish over 5lbs boated. Quite a few blue fish and out of season seabass to throwback as well so one certainly could say the catching was good anyways. A handful of hot shots did still manage to put several nice fluke apiece in their coolers. Capt. Rich looks forward to another nice day on the water today with the Gail Frances setting sail at 7am.
First mate on the morning half day, Capt. Cory reported some nice fish to 8lbs for a very light crowd and the word from the second half day outing was that the anglers aboard had a mix of keepers and shorts. Next brace of half day outings slated for today at 8am and again at 1pm. Reminder to customers that starting July1st we revert back to our normal half day sailing schedule which is two trips daily 8am to Noon and 4pm to 8pm with the 1pm to 5pm trip slated for Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
JUMBO FLUKE CRUSH ON THE GAIL FRANCES WITH CAPT. RICH ON THE GAIL FRANCES, BIG FLUKE TO 11LBS!!/HALF DAY AND CHARTER FLUKE REPORTS, SUNDAY JUNE 26TH 2011
Capt. Rich reported another bang up job on the big fluke with yet another double digit pool fish that tipped the scales at 11lbs. For those who are wondering what the 11lbr succombed to, it was a 2z glow spro jig. For those with really good memory of my fishing reports, back in 2008 a 13.2lb fluke taken off the breachway also succombed to a glow spro as well although it was a 3z. Eerie isn’t it? There were several other fish at or over 8lbs and the majority of the nearly 100 keepers boated were in the jumbo catagory. There were several limits and a good number of anglers walked off the boat with several nice fish apiece. All terminal gear seemed to work equally well today although dragged baits seemed to have an edge. Customers were treated to some extra sport with a nice bunch of hard fighting alligator blues who found the angler’s fluke offerings irresistable. Last but not least plenty of out ot season sea bass to toss back as well. Capt. Rich looks forward to another good day tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
Capt. Mike reported the PM half day was most certainly better than the AM half day. The PM half day saw a much better drift condtion and a nice mix of keeprs and plenty of shorts with the biggest fluke on the PM half day a fine 6lb slab. Next brace of half days slated for tomorrow with Capt. Mike running the first at 8am and the second at 1pm. Remember for those who do back to back trips, we will gladly take five dollars off the second trip.
Capt. Ray reported his full day fluke charter along the beach found a handful of nice keepers and a load of shorts today. Still plenty of prime dates available for charter this summer so call the office for pricing and booking details..
STRIPER CRUSH LAST NIGHT ABOARD THE ADMIRAL FRANCES WITH CAPT. CHRIS!!
Capt. Chris reported a great night of bass fishing last night. As many as six rods doubled over at a time on good size bass! The biggest Striper for the night was skillfully brought to the net by Mike Hashway from Cumberland RI who put a 35lb linesider to gently rest aboard the deck of the Admiral Frances. There were a half dozen other Stripers in the 20lb class and a lot of keepers in the mid teens. A good number of limits were noted and a few guys were passing bass out to fares who were not quite as lucky as they were. A handful of good size blue fish complimented the haul of stripers. A couple pics from last night’s trip will be posted on our thread at www.noreast.com. A special thanks to David Spalding for providing last night’s pics.
WHETHER FULL DAY OR HALF DAY, FLUKE FISHING WAS VERY GOOD TODAY AT THE FRANCES FLEET, SATURDAY JUNE 25TH 2011!!!
Capt. Chris was elated to report the PM half day trip was excellent. Customers had up and down fishing with the fluke along the local beaches and there were quite a few nice keepers in the mix with hi hook Chris from NYC bagging four nice fish to 5lbs and taking the pool. Anglers also tossed back sea bass upwards to nearly six pounds and more than just a few of them. Like a broken record I must sound but before you know it, July 11th will be here. One handsome blue fish provided a little excitement as well. All terminal gear was effective although whole squid was quite productive for a few angelrs. Next brace of half day trips are slated for tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 8am and again at 1pm with Capt. Mike.
Capt. Rich reported a good day of fluke fishing on the full day boat. Again some real quality slabs hitting the deck with many of the keepers over 4lbs. Dan King, longtime regular Frances Fleet customer, took the pool with a slab well over 8lbs. Mr. Pac diligently put together a fine limit catch of good size fluke and a good number of the anglers aboard went home with several nice fluke apiece. Once again anglers tossed back a lot of those out of season sea bass and a couple tackle busting choppers made their way onto the decks of the Gail Frances as welll today. Capt. Rich looks forward to another fine day tomorrow with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
GOOD MORNING HALF DAY WITH CAPT. MIKE ON THE ADMIRAL FRANCES JUNE 25TH 2011!
Capt. Mike reported a good morning half day outing with almost no drift but the fluke were eager for the angler’s offerings. Fishing along the beach is showing some very serious sign of getting quite hot. Good size fluke and lots of action with shorts everyplace we went to this morning and we were not covering any amount of ground at all! Both spro and tandem bait rigs and rental rods were all productive for keepers. Hi hook this morning put five fine keepers in the boat including a trifecta of 5lbrs. A few other nice out of season sea bass some sea robins and skates completed the morning’s activity. Capt. Chris is out there this afternoon and with the flood tide drift conditons should be much better than what we had to deal with this morning so we look forward to another good report later this afternoon. Stay tuned!
Still a good deal of openings on tonight’s Striper run so if interested please give us a call and make a reservation.
