There will be no trip tomorrow Wednesday March 23rd. We can’t stress this enough, you must call us before 5:00 p.m. to inquire about fishing for the next day. Tomorrow’s weather looks very fishable but the phone was on the quiet side today. With the exception of this past Sunday, when fishing was slow, fishing has been outstanding all winter. It’s a shame to miss a day, so please call us early so we can all get out there and go fishing.
Monday March 21st.
No fishing for Tuesday March 22nd. Hopefully the weather turns around for Wednesday’s trip. Be sure to call the office Tuesday afternoon for an update.
COD FISHING REPORT FOR SUNDAY MARCH 20TH 2011
Capt. Mike reported a very slow day of local cod fishing with just no bite on the peak of this super moon phase. It was a beautiful day weather wise but the fishing was just poor. Capt. Mike marked lots of cod on the sounder but they just did not want to chew. We look forward to more good fishing once past this moon phase and next storm due in tomorrow and that lends itself to the fact that the Frances Fleet will not be sailing for cod tomorrow. Please call tomorrow afternoon to check on Tuesday’s weather forecast.
GOOD COD FISHING TODAY, SATURDAY MARCH 19TH 2011
Capt. Mike reported that today’s fine weather brought out the cod enthusiasts in generally a bit better numbers than has been usual of late and as usual of this winter the cod were once again generally cooperative. A nice mix of keepers and shorts with nothing too big and there were a couple fast paced albeit quick pops of action when the rods were doubled over up and down and all around. A good number of the anglers aboard left with some hefty bags of fillets today. Tomorrow’s weather looks just divine for local cod fishing and the Gail Frances will set sail at 3am.
SOLID DAY OF COD FISHING TODAY, FRIDAY MARCH 18TH 2011 ON THE GAIL FRANCES
Capt. Mike reported a solid day of local cod fishing with a respectable number of keepers for the anglers aboard and plenty of shorts to keep things interesting and busy. Most of the action was on bait today and the decent fishing plus the winds not being as brisk as forecasted made today’s good outing even more enjoyable. Tomorrow sounds like another fine day to do some cod fishing and the Gail Frances will be set to sail at 3am.
Thursday March 17th
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! Capt. Mike reported an excellent day of cod fishing and the weather was absolutely gorgeous to top it off. Anglers enjoyed plenty of action all day with the boat not having a problem at all reaching it’s limit. This season has definately been one to talk about! The Gail Frances will be sailing tomorrow morning at 3:00 a.m., Friday March 18th. And as far as the weekend, we don’t see a problem at all with sailing both Saturday and Sunday. We do appreciate you giving us a call though the day before, to give us your name and phone number if you plan on fishing with us.
Wednesday March 16th
The Gail Frances will set sail Thursday morning at 3:00 a.m. Be sure to give the office a call to leave your name and phone number if you plan on coming. Long range weather update for the upcoming weekend looks promising, so get your buddies together and come on down! Winter codfishing remains strong!! Just as a pre caution though, be sure to call the office the day before to get an updated weather report.
GOOD CODFISHING TODAY, TUESDAY MARCH 15TH 2011 ABOARD THE GAIL FRANCES!
Capt. Mike reported a good day of local cod fishing today. Once again the fish were on the move so they would never stay with you for long but when they were with you the action was fast paced with a great mix of keepers and shorts bending rods all around the boat. Both bait and jigs were working today although bait was the best producer. Most anglers aboard wound up with a nice bag of fillets to take home apiece today although as always, individual scores varied from angler to angler. Nothing huge today with the best in the 8lb range. The weather was spectacular and combined with the good fishing, today made for an awesome day on the water! Due to the incoming storm there will be no cod trip tomorrow. Thursday’s weather will be re-evaluated tomorrow so call the office tomorrow afternoon if interested in fishing on Thursday.
Tuesday March 15th
Capt. Mike called in to say they had a very good day of fishing. Our very own Roger was out fishing today, so when he gets in he will write up the full report, so check back after 3:00 p.m. Capt. Mike also wanted everyone to know that because of the unfavorable weather forecast for tomorrow, there will be no fishing trip. But as of right now Thursday and on, looks good.
Monday March 14th
Capt. Mike reported a fairly decent day of cod fishing. The fish were moving around quite a bit today and conditons required the anchor so we had to move around a bit but anglers put together a nice catch of keepers including a few better fish into the 12 to 14lb range today and anglers also had a pile of shorts to keep busy with at times. When the fish were stacked up right under the boat it was lock and load with double headers all around…and then they move and you would have to start again. Capt. Mike reported stacks ten to fifteen feet thick however so there is still a ton of fish around. Tomorrow sounds like a great day weather wise and we look forward to another good day of local cod fishing aboard the Gail Frances setting sail at 3am.
