Yet another snowy/ windy weekend. Seems like every year we say that it cant get any windier but every year it gets worse. We were trying to sail tomorrow but todays snow and ice and gonna keep us at the dock. We had the numbers to sail but as the day went one many anglers were cautious with the temperatures dropping tonight and making up to a 7 hour drive to fish we us. We are just as eager as every phone call we get to sail. We are looking at Sunday and it is looking very windy as well. We are hoping March brings out much nicer weather and we can break everyone’s cabin fever. Thank you to everyone who keeps trying to sail with us every weekend.

Everyone at the Frances Fleet would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy holidays. There will be no trip on December 26th and we will be back at it on December 27th. Dont forget Sea bass closes on December 31st so make sure to fill your freezer for the long winter.

After a very windy week were very happy to be back on the grounds. We saw mixed results on the boats today. Captain Greg reported slammer day on the blackfish grounds. We had a full boat limit before 11am. They were much more aggressive after the wind and the water temp was down a few degrees. Fishing should only get better as the month goes on. Sailing every day at 6am Captain Rich reported a slower day on the cod grounds. The wind seemed to push in some grey ghost and they were hungry. We were able to get away from there for the most part and put in a respectable catch on sea bass and scup. Biggestfish on the day was 5 pounds.

Captain Greg reported a decent day on the full day cod grounds. We were a little worried we would have to deal with the dirty water after the blow from the weekend. We had a good showing of market sized cod and nice sized sea bass. A full boat limit of sea bass to 5lbs. Some good sized porkchops in the mix to 3 pounds. Tomorrow and Thursday weather looks amazing and we will be sailing at 7am. Reservations are booked online at francesfleet.com

Captain Greg reported a very good day on the full day grounds. We sailed with a light crowd of anglers and they were treated to full coolers. We went out and did a mix of drifting and anchoring. We had a full boat limit of sea bass to over 5 pounds. All the scup anglers wanted a fluke or 2 rounded out the catch. No trip tomorrow but back at it on Friday

Well we made it through the storm with only a few minor things to fix. The crew was hard at work Saturday after the trips to prep the boats for the incoming storm. We put line after line on the boats and did out best. Cory went down the morning before the boats and did a last check. He stayed down checking the boat until the water crested the docks and it was time to go home. We spent all day Monday getting it back to normal and some basic house keeping. 

 

There will be no trips tomorrow with the left over weather. The weather was more then fishable but for the everyone’s sake we are letting it settle one more day and we will be back to it on Wednesday at 7am
