Capt. Rich reported a somewhat sporty day filled with liquid sunshine on the fluke and sea bass grounds but none the less if you could hold bottom you could put good size fluke and sea bass into your coolers and bags. A good number of fluke over 5lbs once again with yet another big fish pool winner as longtime regular customer Wayne from CT who has been fishing with us as long as I can remember, skillfully brought a fine 10lb slab to rest on the deck of the Gail Frances. Well done Wayne! Next biggest fish was just over 7lbs. Some blue fish and a good helping of nice size sea bass topped off a great catch of fluke considering the conditions that the anglers aboard had to work with. Due to the quick drift and heavier seas the long leadered bait rigs with the spinners and skirts or mylar flies was certainly the way to go. Today sounds so much more pleasant with Capt. Rich looking forward to another good day on the water with the Gail Frances set to sail at 7am.
The reports from the half days both AM and PM were of not the nicest weather on either trip but most certainly fishable. A few nice fluke and a couple sea bass plus some shorts between the two outings but overall not much to speak of and areas to be fished well were somewhat limited by the weather. Today is a new day and we offer three half day options with trips sailing at 8am,1pm and 4pm. For those who do back to back half days or two half days in the same day, remember we will take $10 off the second trip.
Now for a few words about Striper reservations. Striped Bass reservations have ALWAYS been a policy here at the Frances Fleet and under 99pct of circumstances to get one’s name written down on the sheet one needs either to make a reservation over the phone or come into the store in person. On days when the interest is light, waiting for everyone else to make a reservation will not ensure that the boat is going to sail. If you come down to go Striper fishing without making a proper reservation then there is no way to contact you to give you a heads up that there may be not enough people signed up or that the weather has changed and the trip is scratched. The opposite can also be true where reservations are needed to secure a spot on the bass boat on a busy night as Striper trips are limited in the number of people we will take on them. It is too bad we did not have more Striper reservations last night as the tide would have been awesome in the areas we fish. Next Striper trip is set to sail Wednesday evening on the Lady Frances with Capt. Ray. Please call the office to make a reservation.
