Capt. Frank was elated to pass along the news just received from Capt. Mike of the great excellent Tuna trip that is due to return to port this afternoon. A very good bite on the Yellow Fin tuna with all nice school size fish in the 30 to 50 lb range with the best of the lot approaching or just exceeding 60 lbs. In addition to the Yellows there was about a dozen nice size Albacore mixed in. There were a handful of limit catches on the Yellows taken on jigs but all terminal gear whether it be the chunk, the troll or jigging was effective on this trip. A good number of nice size Mahi as well pleased the anglers this time around along with one short Sword that was gently released to grow big to round out an excellent catch of nice size Tuna. Next trip out will set sail this evening with many more trips to follow on the schedule online thereafter.
Capt. Ray reported an awesome day of Block Island Porgy fishing once again today. There were limit catches and once again the biggest kind of platter size silver panfish with sizes as big as 3lbs and the vast majority once again well over a pound! Some hefty sea bass today with a bunch in the three to four pound range. One fine double header of big triggerfish for one very lucky fella along with only a couple blue fish today. A few very small resident cod came out of hiding for clams today as well and were quickly and gently put back to grow big and strong. Just another great day of fishing! Capt. Ray looks forward to more great fishing and good weather tomorrow with the Admiral Frances set to sail at 8am for scup.
