The word relayed from Capt. Ray to the office yesterday told of just insane scup fishing with most anglers limited out and some just quitting early or being very very size selective with the scup they choose to keep. The fishing yesterday was just off the charts and the sizes were similar to the previous days. Double headers were common place. Some nice sea bass as usual in the mix as well. Porgy season is short but the fishing is as hot as last year so one has to strike while the iron is hot as they say! Porgy fishing sails daily at 8am weather permitting through October 11th.
There was no word from the 7am boat yesterday but reasonable logic would dictate that the fishing was likely quite good. Full details on Tuesday’s full day 7am boat will be posted once they are available. Remember folks that this weekend marks the beginning of FALL COD 2011, starting Saturday, September 17th the Gail Frances will switch to its cod schedule sailing on a MONDAY,WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY AND WEEKEND schedule at 7am weather permitting.
Also look for a fresh offshore Tuna report a bit later this afternoon. Hopes are high after the excellent results achieved on the previous trip. Still plenty of room on some prime dates so check out the full sailing schedule on our web site and call the office for further booking details.
Fall is considered by many to be the best time of year here at the Frances Fleet with a variety and quantity of game and ground fish available unlike at any other time during the calendar year.
