Capt. Rich reported excellent cod and sea bass fishing today on the Gail Frances. Hi hook on the cod was Sebastian Ammino from Middletown Ct who iced seven nice cod into the low teens plus an easy full limit of big sea bass up to over 4lbs. Scott Romano’s group all had a great day fishing mid ship icing a nice mess of green cod into the low teens and all easily limiting out on sea bass up to five pounds. A good number of other anglers had three to five nice cod apiece to go along with their full limit catches of big sea bass. Pool went to Ron Dohan who put a fine cod in the mid teens in the box, way to go Ron! Quite a few of the cod taken today were nice green fish in the eight to ten pound range. There were also many limits of big sea bass all around the boat. Biggest sea bass of the day easily over five pounds with many of them 3lbs or better. A nice mix of big porgies, some fair size blue fish, a few red hake, a fine ocean pout and a few nice ocean perch rounded out the excellent catch of cod and sea bass today. It was a two stop day, the fish just kept coming. A rather impressive amount of short cod once again today and shorts of all sizes which is something we are seeing more and more of and something we all think is a very good sign. Best catches for both size and numbers were made with one hook down low, both with cod and sea bass. A few anglers tried jigging but it was all on bait today. Looks like the next cod/sea bass trip is likely to be this coming Friday as we have a mid week storm bearing down on us once again. We will keep you updated on here. A couple pics to showcase angler hi lights are posted courtesy once again of Roger.
Capt. Mike also reported a great day of fishing with lots of tog up to 8lbs plus a nice big pile of cod once again. Jacob from Long Island NY easily limited out on tog and had six nice keeper cod to ten pounds in addition!! How is that for a good day!! A good number of other anglers aboard had full limits of tog and two to five nice cod apiece to go with!! Some nice Christmas Eels mixed in for good measure as well today. Capt. Mike looks forward to another good day with the tog and maybe the cod once again?, tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 6am.
