The cod report today was that of slower fishing but still respectable. There were more shorts today and less keepers but the keepers were MUCH MORE SPREAD OUT than in some of the recent outings meaning that anglers did not have to move around the boat nearly as much today to get in on the bite. What this also means is that just about everyone had a cod or two with a few guys getting three or four and hi hook being two gentlemen with five each. Nothing big today with the pool fish perhaps 8lbs right out of the water. Just a couple ocean pout today with no ocean perch and very little of anything else besides the cod fish. Capt. Chris commented on not neary seeing as much bait today as in previous trips so that may have had something to do with the somewhat more relaxed bite. At the end of the day however there was a nice amount of cod cumulatively around the boat and the temperatures were balmy and breezes moderate so what more could one really ask for in mid February!? Tomorrow is a new day and despite some snow and rain showers it does not look like much wind til tomorrow night so we are expecting to get the trip in easily and Capt. Mike will be ready to set sail at 5am on the Lady Frances and Cory will have the office open around or just after 4am.
