Capt. George and Capt. Nick reported last night’s combo to be another successful one. The first part of the night produced a pick of good size sea bass to 4lbs, a couple keeper fluke, and a few big porgies and some squid even on the drift. Once anchored up the squid stole the show once again with again some of the season’s best fishing for these tasty mollusks! Double headers were common and even a few triple headers. Hi hooks had upwards to nearly 100 pieces and while sizes were mixed there were certainly plenty of large and super tubes (15plus inchers) in the mix! Once anchored the few anglers who fished with fresh squid for scup and sea bass chipped away at them although there were a lot of scup which had to be thrown back but a few platter size silver bullets to 2lbs found their way to the fresh squid baits. All in all an excellent weekend of combo fishing. Next brace of combo trips are set to sail next Friday and Saturday Nights at 7pm. Call the office to book a reservation if interested. For now one pic of Capt. George’s nephew Michael appears above today’s report with a fine 4lb sea bass he caught on last night’s combo trip right around dusk. Photo courtesy of Roger.
Capt. Ray and Capt. Matt reported some quality Stripers last night and a couple of limit catches but the Stripers proved to be efficient bait stealers. Sometimes the bite can be soft and a deft touch required to get a hook into the bass before he or she gently tugs the eel of the hook. Nevertheless Ginny Reed’s grandson Cole was once again the super star of the evening with a fine limit of Stripers including the 34lb pool fish. Pics are provided courtesy of Ginny. Next Striper trip is set to sail this coming Saturday June 30th at 7pm. Book online or call the office to make a reservation.
