Today’s unexpected winds and tide conditions made for some challenging fishing on all of our trips today. However, Captain Mike reported a decent pick of fluke during the morning half day trip, with the pool fish weighing in at around 6 lbs (beating the contender on the full day trip!). There were also plenty of keeper Black Sea Bass to keep anglers happy on this morning’s half day trip! Captain Matt reported that the tough drift conditions this afternoon resulted in fewer fish than on the morning trip. However, high hook managed to catch his limit of sea bass and three sizeable fluke. Overall, anglers left with more black sea bass than fluke on the afternoon trip.
Captain Rich reported similar trouble with drift conditions today – first it was wind against tide, resulting in no drift, and then the wind picked up and made for an incredibly fast two-knot drift. Despite the lack of ideal drift conditions, anglers still managed to catch some nice quality fluke (though the pool fish only weighed 5 lbs) and some beautiful black sea bass.
The Gail Frances will sail tomorrow at 7AM for the full day Jumbo Fluke and Sea Bass trip, with the Lady Frances sailing at 8AM and 1PM for the half day fishing trips. Wednesdays are Family days for Half Day fishing, and the weather looks like it will cooperate much better tomorrow.
