JUST A REMINDER TO COD FISHERS THAT SEA BASS IS CLOSED IN FEDERAL WATERS UNTIL OCTOBER 22ND. UNFORTUNATELY THE VAST MAJORITY OF COD FISH DROPS TAKE PLACE OUTSIDE OF THREE MILES (FEDERAL WATERS).
Roger reported a solid day of cod fishing. Again a complete case of the haves and have nots. Regular customer Nick from Jamestown RI was hi hook with six beautiful cod fish including the 25 lb pool fish. Longtime regular Lisa Loprenzo from Stamford Ct was a close second with her cod fish of around 23 lbs, one of two nice cod she caught. A few other fishers had three or four cod apiece today to take home. A mix of sizes on the cod fish but generally fish in the 8 to 12 lb range with a handful of bigger ones into the mid and high teens and the aforementioned bigger ones to battle it out for bragging rights. Again the scup and ocean perch were ferocious with some fishers filling buckets of both. Some nice red hake and a handful of big sea flounder today and one short fluke plus a couple of blue fish rounded out the species assortment for the day. All or almost all cod were taken on fresh shucked clam baits. We try again tomorrow as the Gail Frances will set sail at 7 am with Capt. Rich at the helm. A few pictures today courtesy of Roger.
Capt. George reported a great inshore sea bass trip today fishing in state waters for the Anthony Cella private charter. Sizes to over 3 lbs and some of the fishers aboard had limit catches. A handful of scup mixed in but the sea bass stole the show and shorty sea bass provided non stop unlimited action for the folks aboard in between the keepers. Still some dates available for private charters call the office for more information with a date of interest.
