SAILING TIME STARTING SATURDAY OCTOBER 1ST FOR THE COD BOAT IS 6AM TO 4PM!!!
JUST A REMINDER TO COD FISHERS THAT SEA BASS IS CLOSED IN FEDERAL WATERS UNTIL OCTOBER 22ND. UNFORTUNATELY THE VAST MAJORITY OF COD FISH DROPS TAKE PLACE OUTSIDE OF THREE MILES (FEDERAL WATERS).
Roger reported slower cod fishing today. Actually the bite on everything was slower. The weather turned out to be nothing short of stunning however and the fishing while a bit more relaxed still was respectable. The size on the cod was a lot smaller overall as the catch was made up of mostly market size fish with just a few in the teens today. One really nice fish just a shade below 20 lbs took the prize money. The cod were a bit more spread out today with the majority of fishers aboard grabbing a fish and in some cases two. We had some really nice ling and some nice size ocean perch, a few big sea flounders, one 10 lb white hake and reasonable numbers of scup. Some fishers grabbed as many as 15 -20 scup apiece and the sizes on the scup was noticeably bigger with a decent number of fish in the 2 lb plus range. There was only one unmentionable today so that was bonus. A couple of cod fish on jigs later in the day when Capt. Rich turned the Gail loose on the drift. Pictures today courtesy of Roger. Weather looks incredible for tomorrow and Capt. Rich will set sail on the Gail Frances at 7am.
The tuna trip which came back this afternoon had slightly better results overall. We had a few more and bigger albacore in the 50-60 lb range, one sword and some Mahi. Not great but a slight improvement and it was a lighter load of fishers. Next tuna trip sets sail weather permitting Wednesday Night at 10pm aboard the Lady Frances. Still some space available so if interested please call the office to make an official reservation/deposit.
