Capt. Ray reported a slower day of porgy fishing. The porgies were there but finicky and tough to keep interested in eating. We think an abundance of blue fish may have been at least partly to blame. Nevertheless some big scup up to over 2lbs and a scattering of nice size sea bass made their way into the bags and coolers. Hi hooks probably had around 30 big scup apiece to take home. Tomorrow is a new day and today was very likely just a momentary hiccup, Capt. Ray looks forward to setting sail on the Admiral Frances for scup at 8am.
Capt. Rich will be kicking off the Fall Cod Season 2011 tomorrow morning on the Gail Frances. In the past five seasons the Fall Cod fishing has been quite good with a lot of quality fish each season. We hope for more of the same this Fall. Fall Cod trips will run on a Monday,Wednesday,Friday and Weekend sailing schedule at 7am. Weather looks just fine this weekend and a fresh Cod report will be posted by late afternoon or early evening tomorrow. The Frances Fleet will be out on the cod grounds with fresh skimmer clams!
