Capt. Rich and first mate Chris reported a respectable day of bottom fishing for fluke and sea bass today despite very slow drift condtions. Some nice fluke with several in the 7lb range battling it out for pool honors. A handful of anglers had four and five nice fluke apiece for hi hook honors. Some nice sea bass to 4lbs scattered around the boat as well today but no big per person numbers with the most anyone had being four or five apiece as well. We would like to wish Israel Lopez from New Haven CT a very happy 10th birthday today and Israel did a great job on the fluke today with five nice keepers to nearly 7lbs. A pic of Israel with his biggest fluke of the day appears above today’s report courtesy of Roger. The crew said just about all terminal gear was equally effective today but commented that no one was really working the buck tails all that hard. A few big porgies and some bluefish to be proud of mixed in with the fluke and sea bass. What a week it has been with all the different species!! Tomorrow is another nice weather day and Capt. Rich looks forward to setting sail on the Gail Frances at 7am for fluke and sea bass.
Capt. Mike and first mate Troy reported the back to back half days were just okay today. This morning’s outing suffered from wind against tide while this afternoon was just the opposite with wind and tide together and a very fast drift! Some nice fluke and a few nice sea bass were recorded between the two outings. We would like to congratulate Erin from Florida who took the pool with a fine fluke just shy of 4lbs on the PM half day today. This was Erin’s first ever party boat fishing trip!! Way to go Erin!! We would also like to thank the many customers who came in to the Capt. Tackle to comment on what a great time they had fishing with us today! Thanks for the good word, it means a lot! Our Capt. and Crew work hard to provide great service for our customers on all trips. Capt. Mike is ready for another round of half day outings tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 8am for the first one and then the second trip will sail at 1pm.
Plenty of room on the combo trips set for this coming Friday and Saturday Nights. Call the office to make a reservation if interested in this night time extended half day setting sail at 7pm and returning at 1am. One gets to sample a bit of everything the local beaches have to offer at dusk and after dark. We start the night with a drift or two for fluke and then anchor up on the rock bottom and fish for porgies and sea bass. Some anglers last weekend had great succuess fishing for squid once anchored as well. Last year some great catches of squid were made right into mid July! Call the office for more details or to book a spot if interested.
