We were thrilled to hear of a much better catch of Bass on our night time fishing trip last night aboard the Lady Frances! The best showing of Stripers in weeks with the biggest topping out around 30 lbs and we also had the blue fish in quantity but not the size of choppers of the past couple weeks. So a nice pile of great eating size blue fish and some good size bass to please the anglers aboard last night. A picture of last night’s big bass appears courtesy of Chuck Brewster. Plenty of room both tonight and tomorrow night as it stands right now so if interested please call the office to make a reservation.
Capt. Rich reported another good day of fishing on the Gail Frances but not quite as crazy as yesterday. More sea bass today with some angler limits of big sea bass to over 5 lbs! Some really big fluke today as well with THREE fish in the 10 lb range fighting it out for bragging rights. Longtime regular customer Dean from Springfield Mass had one of the 10 lb matts today, the big summer flounder falling victim to a pink/white spro while Zach Picucci from Midlothian Virginia had another one of the big flatties weighing in at 9.7 lbs after sitting on the ice all day (caught the first drift!) and also caught on a spro jig. A picture of Zach’s doormat appears above today’s report courtesy of Roger and was weighed in Capt.Tackle on the certified calibrated company scale. The pool winner was a shade over 10 lbs. A lot of jumbo fluke again today with longtime regular Rich from Belchertwon Mass boxing five big fluke with three in the five to six pound range and so on. There were a handful of fluke limits according to first mate Capt. Matt and a good number of anglers aboard who had four and five good size fluke apiece. Capt. Matt reported both bait rigs and buck tails produced today with buck tails likely having a slight edge. A few blue fish mixed in as well but not many scup today. Delightful August weather on tap tomorrow and Capt. Rich will be set to sail at 7 am aboard the Gail Frances.
Great news regarding the half day morning trip tomorrow!! We now will have plenty of room on the Lady Frances so if interested in coming down for the 8 am trip, come right on down! Half day fishing was better this morning than on this afternoon’s trip.
Plenty of room still available on tomorrow’s Whale Watch tour which leaves at 1pm so if interested please call the office to make a reservation this evening or tomorrow morning. Sightings have generally been excellent to exceptional and there is just a few more short weeks left to go. Today was no exception with dozens of Finback Whales sighted south of Block Island. Full galley on board the Whale Watch with an array of food and beverage items for sale as well so no need to pack a lunch unless you want to.
