Capt. Mike was pleased to report of a good day of local fluke fishing. It was a slow and steady pick but they added up and by the end of the day the majority of anglers aboard left with some beautiful fresh fillets. Eugene Barry from Stamford CT was hi hook with 5 fine keepers to 6lbs. Eugene’s fishing partner Carlo also had several fine fluke to take home up to at least 6lbs. A good number of the anglers aboard had two to four nice fluke apiece to take home. Longtime regular customer Dan from Brewster NY took the pool today with a fine late inning slab that went 8.6lbs, part of a haul of four fine keepers. Well done Dan! Another fluke just a hair under at 8.3lbs was taken by another fellow but just missed the big money today. A good number of fish today over 4lbs. Buck tails and bait rigs were all productive although whole squid was quite effective as well. Plenty of catch and release sea bass which bodes well for next Saturday and some blue fish of varying size made for some added excitement today with a couple of them pushing the ten pound mark. The weather was exceptional and it was a truly pleasant early summer day on the water. Capt. Mike looks for more of the same tomorrow with the Lady Frances set to sail at 7am. Some photos of angler hi lights will appear today courtesy of Roger.
Tonight’s squid trip is a go. Full report for better or worse will be up tomorrow morning so stay tuned!!
