SOLID DAY OF COD FISHING TODAY, WEDNESDAY MARCH 30TH 2011/ NO COD FISHING TOMORROW DUE TO THE WEATHER
Capt. Mike reported a solid day of local cod fishing. A lot of shorts and still a nice mix of keepers to 7lbs for the anglers aboard today. Most anglers left with enough fish for a few good meals. A few ocean perch mixed in today, sign of spring for sure. Both bait and jigs were working today although bait was the way to go. No cod trip tomorrow and likely Friday due to to the pending spring N’oreaster.
Tuesday March 29th
The weather looks great for tomorrow and the boat is planning to sail. Remember, we changed the sailing time to 6:00 a.m. The boat will return approx. 4:00 p.m. Give the office a call to let us know you are coming. Thank you and look forward to having you on board.
EXCELLENT COD FISHING AGAIN TODAY, SUNDAY MARCH 27TH 2011 ABOARD THE GAIL FRANCES!!/ NEW SAILING TIME STARTING WEDNESDAY MARCH 30TH IS 6AM DAILY!!!
Capt. Mike reported that today’s local cod fishing was excellent once again for the small group of anglers who decided to go out and enjoy a most beautiful early spring day on the ocean. From sunrise the action was non stop like the past couple outings. Once again there were plenty of keepers to go around with just about everyone averaging around or even a bit better than a half dozen apiece to take home and as stated before just never ending action with short cod keeping anglers very busy at the rails. The trend over the past couple of weeks has been with a sun rise bite with the pre dawn bite becoming much more spotty, therefore the Frances Fleet will start sailing daily weather permitting for cod fish at 6am starting Wednesday March 30th. As alwyas please call the office the day before to make a reservation and double check on the weather/status of the next day’s outing. Due to weather there will be no cod boat Monday and Tuesday March 28th and 29th with the next trip scheduled to set sail aboard the Gail Frances on Wednesday morning at 6am.
GOOD DAY OF LOCAL COD FISHING TODAY, SATURDAY MARCH 26TH ABOARD THE GAIL FRANCES!!
Capt. Mike reported another very strong day of local cod fish action. It took a bit longer to get the fish interested this morning but once they were under the boat they stayed there for quite some time with a nice steady pick of keepers and plenty of shorts to keep angers busy and attentive at the rails. Ken and Greg from New London CT had a fine day combining for 20 keepers including the 9lb pool winner. Just about everyone left with at least enough fish for a good fish fry or two anyways. A bit brisk and chilly today as well but tomorrow’s forecast calls for less wind and plenty of bright sunshine so the weather once again looks great and the fish are still here folks so come on down! The Gail Frances will set sail at 3AM tomorrow morning.
March 26 th Early Report
Captain Mike called in to say that he sailed with a light load of anglers this morning. They had a good pop of fish right around sun up. He reported that the day was shaping up to be similar to yesterday’s action. We will have full report later this afternoon. The GAIL FRANCES will be sailing at 3 am tomorrow morning. Please call the office and make a reservation.
TREMEDOUS COD FISHING TODAY, FRIDAY MARCH 25TH 2011 ON THE GAIL FRANCES!!!
Capt.Mike reported from start to finish it was drop em and stick em cod fishiing with non stop action and double headers the norm. While the majority of the cod were shorts and had to be let go there were more than enough keepers to go around and everyone in the small group went home with a nice bunch of fish with a few of the guys doing extremely well. One fine keeper pollock amidst the barage of young cod. Biggest fish for the day around or just under ten pounds. Capt. Mike reports the bottom just seems to be paved with these small cod! Capt. Mike also reported seeing plenty of bait nearby the local cod grounds and Whales chasing the herring. Still a tremendous amount of life out there. The weather looks chilly but bright for the weekend cod fishing and the sea conditons look just fine so come on down as the Gail Frances will be set to sail at 3am both days this weekend.
Friday March 25th
Early word from Capt. Mike on the Gail Frances is that fishing has bounced back! Constant action all morning with plenty of keepers and a tremendous amount of throwbacks. Nothing big coming over the rails but the small group of anglers on board are arm weary from the action. The weekend’s weather, although a little chilly for this time of year, looks fine. So give the office a call before 5:00 p.m. to make your reservations, and come on down!!
March 25
The Gail Frances will be sailing tomorrow morning at 3:00 a.m.. It is sure to be a light crowd, so grab your friends and come fishing. The crew is anxious to get out there, the weather has kept us at the dock all week. Light winds are forecasted for tomorrow.
Thursday March 24th
The Gail Frances is scheduled to sail tomorrow morning at 3:00 a.m. but we do need people to call ahead to leave your name and phone numbers, to get a head count. You must call by 5:00 p.m. and if at that point we feel the phone calls have been too few, then we will call the trip. The last day out was this past Sunday and although the trip was slow, we don’t feel the season is over yet. Sundays trip, we believe was probably more weather related than anything else. So gather your gear, give us a call and go fishing!
