The report from the 7am boat was of once again an all out crush job on both the fluke and the sea bass. The pool winner was at least ten pounds and the fella who took the pool had his full limit of good size fluke and a near full limit of nice sea bass. There were many many fluke limits and a good amount of sea bass limits today and many other anglers who were close to their limits of both. Everyone had at least some fish to take home and the total count of keepers, a near even split of good size fluke and big sea bass came to well over 300 fish for a moderate crowd of anglers. As has been typical this year there were many fluke over 4lbs once again today and many sea bas from 2 to 4lbs with a few bigger ones up to and over 5lbs. A few blue fish and a couple of scup topped off another insane day of fluke and sea bass action on the 7am full day boat which will be ready to go right back out there this morning skippered by Capt. Rich aboard the Gail Frances at 7am.
STRIPER AND COMBO REPORTS FROM LAST NIGHT, SATURDAY AUGUST 13TH 2011
Capt. Ray reported an improvement in the local Striper fishing with a handful of nice size Stripers to 32lbs plus a handful of nice blue fish last night. Still nothing great but we will take any improvement we can get! Regardless of the occasional hiccup it has been one heck of a season for Stripers. While wet it does look fishable tonight so if interested call the office to book for tonight’s trip which is set to sail at 7pm.
Capt. Chris reported the combo was okay last night with a good number of keeper fluke taken along with some keeper sea bass. Just a few porgies and some nice squid for those anglers who fished them. A tremendous amount of short sea bass kept anglers quite busy however with lots of action. Next combo trips are set for next Friday and Saturday Night leaving at 7pm.
SEA BASS CRUSH AND GOOD FLUKING TODAY ON THE GAIL FRANCES, AUGUST 15TH 2011!!!
Capt. Rich reported an awesome day of sea bass fishing today on the 7am full day boat with a good amount of fluke in the mix as well. A healthy group of anglers put over 250 nice sea bass into their bags and coolers with some of the biggest specimens easily pushing five pounds. A number of anglers were close to or at their limits on sea bass and most had at least four to six nice sea bass apiece to take home. For fluke they were a bit trickier to seduce due to the slow/no drift condtions but quite a few made their way on to the deck of the Gail Frances and into the customers bags and coolers. A number of anglers had four to six nice size fluke apiece to take home with Mr. Pak for example putting six fine flatties in his cooler. There were a number of jumbo fluke in the five to seven pound range but the day’s best summer flounder was taken by Noreast member Mickie Belle who brought a fine 8.5slab to the safety of the net and took the prize money for the day. Capt. Rich looks forward to some great weather tomorrow before the liquid sunshine expected to arrive Sunday Night and Monday. Drift conditions should be considerably better tomorrow with the light southerly wind forecasted as well. Capt. Rich will be set to sail aboard the Gail Frances at 7am tomorrow.
Capt. Mike reported a very good midday charter for the Mark Bouressa group who had a very impressive catch of good size fluke to 5.5lbs and sea bass to over 3lbs and the early report from Capt. Mike who is out on the 4pm half day as this is being written was that nice fluke and sea bass were once again pleasing patrons.
HALF DAY REPORTS FROM YESTERDAY EVENING AND THIS MORNING, 8/12PM AND 8/13AM/ COD SPECIAL CANCELLED FOR TOMO0RROW SUNDAY AUGUST 14TH
Capt. Mike reported last night’s evening PM half day was on the slow side but some quality fluke in the three to five pound range and a few nice sea bass pleased the anglers aboard with the rental rods by far doing the best.
Capt. Keith reported a good morning of half day fishing with a nice slug of keepers up to 6.5lbs for the anglers aboard with a number of anglers getting two or three keepers each. Several other jumbo fluke in the 4 to 5lb range in addtion to the big fish of the day. The shorts kept some anglers busy today as well. No sea bass to speak of at all this morning. Considering the very very slow drift it was a rather impressive morning of fishing. Single spro jigs casted and worked along the bottom or rental rod plain jane bait rigs were the best producers for size today. Next half day trip today sets sail at 4pm on the Admiral Frances with Capt. Mike.
Capt. Chris reported a good morning of half day fishing for the Daniel Henchman group with a slow pick all morning resulting in a nice haul of keepers including several fluke in the jumbo category of 4 to 5lbs. Just a couple nice sea bass mixed in. The end result was some fine looking bags of fillets for the anglers aboard. All the fish on the charter were taken on rental rod set ups.
Unfortunately the cod special for tomorrow is to be cancelled. Looks like the somewhat sporty weather forecast for Sunday has kept the interest level down. We will try again for next Sunday, August 21st. We would really like to keep the summer cod fish specials going as reports continue to indicate some good fishing locally from smaller craft which have been sampling the goods recently. The trip will leave at 5am and return sometime around or after 3pm. Reservations are again necessary. Please call the office with any questions about the Sunday Cod Specials.
An example of what one can expect on the night “COMBO” trip!
STRIPER/COMBO REPORT FOR LAST NIGHT FRIDAY AUGUST 12TH/AM HALF DAY REPORT FOR FRIDAY AUGUST 12TH
First of all the morning half day report for yesterday certainly deserves a mention as there was reported to be an excellent haul of keeper fluke and quite a few nice sea bass. One young lady with rental rod who had never been deep sea fishing before had three fluke in the six to seven pound range, all three fish the would be pool winners had she been in the pool!! Two half days on tap today with the first leaving at 8am and the next leaving at 4pm.
Capt. Chris reported the night combo trip last night was more of a fluke and squid trip with flat calm seas allowing us to drift all night long along the south shore beaches. A slow but steady pick of nice fluke to 5lbs for those fishing with fluke rigs and a slow but steady pick of good size squid for those who were squidding. A couple anglers had three and four nice fluke apiece to take home. Anglers also had a handful of nice size sea bass and a bunch of cocktail size blue fish. All in all a good trip. Be prepared for a little of everything on the night combo runs with the next night combo set to sail this evening at 7pm on the Gail Frances with Capt. Chris.
Capt. Ray reported a tough night of Striper fishing last night. Capt. Ray will be ready to try again tonight with the Lady Frances set to sail at 7pm. Still plenty of room so if interested in going please call the office to book.
STRIPED BASS REPORTS FROM WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHTS, AUGUST 10TH AND 11TH
First mates Troy and Nicky were kind enough to provide some information regarding the past two nights of Striper fishing. On Wednesday Night the Stripers bit frantically in the beginning and the end of the evening with not much in between. The two biggest fish of the night checked in at 30 and 28lbs and there were a few limits. There were no blue fish. Thursday Night’s trip was much slower with just a handful of nice Stripers up to 25lbs and one blue fish recorded. There was just no drift all night! Hopefully tonight will see better results with Capt. Ray set to sail on the Lady Frances at 7pm.
